Lance's pov

"Lance? Is everything ok?" Veronica called from the living room.

"Fine." I replied through gritted teeth.

I walked outside and onto the porch, crossing my arms and glared at James. "What the hell do you want?"

He sighed, a cold grin making its way to his face. "I wanted to know where Keith lives. I need to talk to him, and he won't answer my calls or texts."

I rolled my eyes. "Gee, I wonder why." I said, sarcasm dripping off my tongue. "How the hell would I know where Keith lives? He lives in New York, I don't know his address. And how the hell did you find out where I live?"

He chuckled. "First of all, don't play dumb. I know you know Keith moved here. I'm not stupid. And second, it's not hard to find people's addresses when you have connections."

I raised an eyebrow. "You sure about that?"

My eyes darted quickly to the house across the street. If Keith decided to look out his window, or leave the house right now, things could escalate.

You little-"

He grabbed my shirt, and pushed me against the house.

"Listen, I know Keith lives in L.A. now. He told me. There's no way in hell Keith would move here and not tell you. And I know you know where he lives."

I rolled my eyes. "Keith and I don't talk anymore. Or did you forget?"

He let go of my shirt, but made didn't move away, so I was still pressed against the wall.

"Oh no, I haven't forgotten. You know what, maybe he finally realized how lame you are. Finally ditched your ass and moved on. Fine. I'll figure out where he lives on my own. I'm only visiting, but I will be back. L.A. is a beautiful city. Maybe I'll move here myself."

I gritted my teeth, biting back a retort. I didn't have any leverage, and I was pinned against a wall. I wasn't going to win in a fight against him, and I didn't want to make him mad.

There was a few seconds of silence, before he spoke up again.

"You know this city better than me. Help me find where Keith is living now. I can pay you. I have the money."

"Never." I spat.

Even if I didn't want to make him mad, I wasn't going to sell Keith out. James' jaw tensed.

"You know what? I was going to go peacefully. But I've changed my mind."

His hand balled into a fist, and he punched my stomach. Pain seared through my body and I doubled over in pain.

"Wow, you can really pack a punch." I managed, straightening my back again.

He scoffed. "You're lucky I've got self control, otherwise I'd beat you to a bloody pulp."

"I'll see you later." He called in a singsong voice.

He got into a car and sped away, leaving me on the porch, now on my knees.

I heard a door open and looked up to see Keith had come out of his house.

Worry flooded my thoughts, and I hoped he hadn't seen James. Keith had explained how bad James had been to them while they were together. I didn't want him to be upset.

He rushed over to me. "Lance? Are you ok?" He said, panic evident in his voice.

"Yeah, I'm fine. It's fine, really."

He wrapped his arms around me. "I saw someone on the porch with you, but I couldn't see who it was. By the time I got outside they left. I'm so sorry. What happened?" Relief washed over me. He didn't know it was James. "I...I'm not sure. Just some thug beating teenagers up for fun, I guess."

He sighed, helping me off the ground. "C'mon, let's get inside. Before he comes back."

I nodded, and we walked inside. Veronica must have gone upstairs after I walked out, because she was no longer in the living room.

We sat on the couch. "Is anyone else besides you and Veronica home?"

I shook my head. "They all went to some party. I said I had plans, since I didn't want to go, and Ronnie was going on a date with Axca later, but had no way of getting home in time, so she just stayed home."

He nodded. "Ok. Then I can do this without worrying about someone walking in on us." He leaned over and planted a kiss on my lips. I smiled as he pulled away. "Feeling better?" He said, his lips curved into a smirk.

I tapped my chin. "Hmm, a little bit."

He smiled. "Then maybe I can help you feel better after all."

I smiled, nodding.

He leaned forward and connected his lips with mine once again.

After we pulled apart, I rested my head on his shoulder. "Thank you Keith...I mean it."

He smiled. "Of course. I'm your boyfriend it's my job to make you feel better. How about we watch some movies. We can eat junk food, and cuddle."

I couldn't help myself from beaming. "I love that idea."

He walked away to get the snacks, and the smile fell from my face.

James was out there. And even if he was leaving this time...he said he would be back.

I just hoped when he came back, he didn't do something that hurt my relationship with Keith.

Or worse...hurt Keith.
