Lance's pov

I smiled as I posted the last set of photos from the day on my Instagrams.

Today was our last day in Washington D.C. Our next, and last, destination, was New York City. I was giddy with excitement. Keith and I had set up a time to meet up at the Metropolitan Museum of Art tomorrow.

I couldn't believe I was finally meeting him tomorrow. I had come to terms with the fact that I did in fact, have a crush on him. I had only told Pidge and Hunk though, as I didn't want to deal with comments from my other friends.

When I say told, I mean they figured it out after Allura and Lotor broke up and I didn't jump on the opportunity to be Allura's shoulder to cry on in hard times.

I couldn't sleep at all, and was almost falling asleep standing up as we checked out of the hotel we were staying at. Hunk nudged me.

"You ok? You look like you didn't sleep at all last night."

I shook my head, trying to make myself more alert. "I didn't. I'm so excited. And nervous. I can't wait to meet him. I want to touch his hair. It looks so soft. And he looks like he gives the best hugs. And his eyes, oh god, his eyes. They're so beautiful, I could probably get lost in them for eternity."

Hunk raised an eyebrow, and opened his mouth to say something, but I shushed him. "Before you say anything, yes I know I'm pining after a taken man, but it's fine. I'm fine. Keith's happy, so...I'm...happy." I said.

Hunk smiled slightly. "It'll be fine, Lance. Besides, you don't know if James is going to be there, so maybe you won't have to think about it."

I shook my head. "No, James is going to be there. Keith said something about 'one of his best friends and his boyfriend getting to know each other.' But it's fine. I'm happy for him. He's been in a rough spot for a long time, and I'm glad he's opening himself up to people more. It means he's healing. And I'm happy for him."

It was around a 3 hour drive, so I was able to get in a quick nap before we arrived in New York. Pidge shook me awake as we arrived at the hotel we were going to stay at. We checked in, and we had a few minutes before we had to leave to reach the museum to meet Keith and James. We joked and looked at memes mostly before it was time to go.

My leg bounced the whole way there. I was so anxious, and ready to meet him. But I also felt like I wasn't ready to meet him. I had spent so many hours in my room thinking of what it would be like when I finally met him, and now it was time.

We parked outside of the museum and walked in, wandering around, and navigating our way to the Greek and Roman art exhibits, where we were going to meet them.

I looked around for Keith, but he was nowhere to be found. However, we did spot James, waiting by an archway. I recognized him from pictures Keith had sent me of the two of them.

"You guys can wander around for a bit, I'll meet you guys later, yeah?"

They nodded and walked off to look around the museum. I walked up to James, feeling extremely giddy now.

"Hi, um, are you James?" I asked, walking up to him. He looked up from whatever he was doing on his phone.

"Yeah, I'm guessing you're Lance?" I nodded, shaking his hand.

"Wow...I expected a lot more." I did a double take.

"I...I'm sorry?"

He scoffed. "The way Keith talked about you, I expected more. But you look...pathetic. I was expecting some cool and kinda buff person, but you definitely are a let down. I don't know why Keith ever took an interest in being your friend. Maybe he was lonely. Well, he's not as lonely anymore. Ever since we got together he's been coming out of his shell more and more. He's become friends with a lot of my friends even. And he's happy. And he certainly doesn't spend all his time on his phone anymore. Or, haven't you noticed? He hasn't been texting you as much, has he?"
