"What do you mean she's gone?" Hank was furious. He couldn't believe his ears, he didn't want to. He stalked towards the open window and looked out it, down towards the ground.

"Why wouldn't she tell us that she was a mutant?" Charles muttered. Hank spun around with a look of shock.

"What the holy hell do you mean?" Charles glanced at the broken lightbulb on her desk. He wheeled himself over to it before picking it up.

"She's the reason why the power turned off," Charles held up the lightbulb so that Hank could see it. Hank took the broken lightbulb and then observed the glass fragments on her desk. He opened one of the desk drawers to find several lightbulbs; some broken, some not. Hank was extremely upset. First, Serenity hid the fact that she was a mutant from him, then she did the one thing that she should have never had to do. She learned how to control her mutation by herself.

"Why didn't she ask for help?" Hank muttered. Even if she taught herself, there is still a lot of gray area that she probably hasn't covered. Also, if she lost control then then how well did she really teach herself, and what if it happens again?

The rain poured over the little car that Serenity took from her father. Tears were still streaming from her eyes as she thought of the fight between herself and Charles. She knew that her decision to leave was brash, but at that moment she couldn't think of a better way to escape that situation. She also thought about Hank and how she didn't say goodbye. He didn't deserve that, but she had to get out of there.

She pulled up to the cute little house and checked the backseat to make sure she had the bag she packed. she quickly left the car, not bothering to care about the pouring rain. She thought that maybe it would hide her tears. As she stepped upon the streaked welcome mat, she smiled briefly before knocking.

Not even a second later the door swung open and she looked at the face of the silver-haired boy that she had come to care for. He seemed to take in her soaked appearance and began to worry that something bad happened.

"Can I stay here for a little while?" Only then did Peter notice her red eyes and dripping mascara. He immediately ushered her into the house where she was greeted by a worried Magda and Wanda. Instead of asking what happened, Magda directed her to the bathroom and told her to take a hot shower.

As Serenity sat under the steaming water, she thought about her life and she cried. She cried for Sean who had always been the big brother that she wanted. She cried for Alex who had been her first crush. She cried for Hank and for leaving him behind. She cried for Raven, and she cried for her father. Despite her anger at him for the man he used to be, he was still her father and she loved him. Serenity knew that she couldn't blame him for her self seclusion; it just seemed like the easiest thing to do at the time.

The hot water did nothing to wash her pain away, and all she wanted to do was sit in the bathtub forever. Her sobs racked through her tiny body and drifted to the worried family below.

"She asked to stay her for a little while," Peter told his mother and sister. Lorna was already in bed as it was late at night.

"Well, of course she can stay here," Magda replied. In the short time that she had known Serenity, she had grown to care for her. It was hard not to care seeing as she was wonderfully kind and made her children happy.

"She can stay in my room. She can stay on the couch in there," Wanda was always the helper. Plus, she thought it would be better then sleeping on the couch in their basement, which was old and disgusting. Magda said that it was fine.

As the conversation came to an end, Serenity walked down the stairs. Peter immediately got up from his seat and walked towards her. He didn't say anything, just opened his arms for a hug. Serenity didn't hesitate and wrapped her arms around him. He gently swayed her from side-to-side before pulling away. His mother and sister left the room so that the two of them could talk in private.

Peter led her over to the couch and they sat down next to each other. Serenity was facing forwards while Peter sat criss-crossed facing her.

"Do you want to talk about it?" Serenity looked down and played with the loose string of the sweater she put on.

"I got into a fight with my dad about something, and then something happened, and then I left and took one of his cars," Serenity continued to play with the string while Peter processed the information.

"What happened?" Serenity stopped playing with the string and looked up at Peter.

"I lost control...of my mutation," Peter looked at her in shock.

"I didn't know you were a mutant," she sighed and went back to playing with the string.

"Neither did anyone else," Peter looked at her for a second and then smiled. He was the first person she told.

"Well I'm honored to be the first," she smiled lightly at that, and Peter hesitantly asked her if she would show him. She looked around before spotting the TV set in the middle of the living room. She concentrated on the electricity in the air around her before sending energy towards the TV. Peter watched in awe as she turned it on and began to switch channels.

"That's amazing! So you control electricity?" She giggled a little before turning to face Peter completely.

"Kind of...it's really electricity and light-bending. That basically means that I can make light go where I want it to," The conversation slowly switched to different things like their favorite food, bands, and anything that came to their minds. Eventually Serenity fell asleep, so Peter carried her slowly up to Wanda's room and laid her on the couch. He covered her in a blanket, and then quietly left the room.
