I was running down the lane as fast as I could, screaming my lungs out..my ears ringing..the blood rushing to my head. But I couldn't do anything, running was my only choice. He was catching up with me. His monstrous hands reaching out for me. I ran into the woods. It was darker, the tall trees cast weird shadows and the strange sounds convinced me that I had made a huge mistake. I continued running and he was still on my tail when I suddenly tripped. Aaaaah. And fell. I clambered up as fast as I could but he grabbed me by my neck and pulled me up. He wrapped both his hands around my neck and I struggled as he tried to squeeze the life out of me. I was choking and my feeble hands tried hard to yank his hands off, but failed. No,no....no... I could feel my life flowing out of me, my vision started to get blurry and I stopped trying. I stopped fidgeting and gave up. I closed my eyes as he stole my life. I couldn't see him with my eyes closed but I knew that he had that all too familiar smile on his face. A satisfied smile. The one that said,"My job here is done!".
No,no..........I woke up. Huh?... I'm in my room! It was a nightmare. Again. That's it! I'm going to visit a doctor first thing in the morning. I couldn't sleep after that. It was 3:22am. I pulled off my comforter. It was chilly. I grabbed a sweater and pulled it on and went down to the kitchen for a cup of coffee.I switch on the tv as I wait for the water to boil. I needed some distraction but there was nothing interesting. Obviously, it's half past three. I finish making the coffee and sit down on the couch and plug in my earphones as I listen to Celine Dion and her 'soulful' voice. Why am I listening to Celine Dion? I don't even like music anymore and Dion is at the bottom of my list. Well, anyways, it's not like I'm going to forget that night.
And flashback time.
Here we go again. It was a cold, windy night. I arrived at school with my coat and hat on. I could hear the music from the auditorium even outside the school. I walked in and showed the security guard my school ID stating that I am, indeed, a freshman. What's the point in checking anyways? The sophomores and seniors are so going to crash this party. Ok, yes, I was grumpy. Why? Because I'm the only one who didn't have a date. Well, no one actually asked me out. I guess I'm a loser after all! Claire and her possé are soo going to pick at me. Ugh!! Why did I even come to this party in the first place? Oh yeah, Robin and the gang practically pulled me into it.I enter the auditorium. It's pretty warm so I take of my hat and my jacket. I was wearing a blood-red strapped dress that broke out into flares from my hips and ended perfectly about two inches above my knees. It was the only dress I had. My hair was styled and I let it freely bounce upon my shoulders.
I wore my mom's red locket and the tallest red heels I found at Shoes. It was not because I was short, which I am not. I am pretty tall. I wore it because my best friend Robin wanted me to be a 'girl' for a day. Like I'm not a girl already.I spotted Sam in a short pink dress with a bow that made her look real cute. She was with her boyfriend Callum aka the most annoying person on planet Earth! Well, at least to me he was. But he was, mind you, the person who could turn a horrible day into the best day of your life. I walked up to them.
"Samantha. Hey."
"Oh, hey Julia. No date?"I frowned.
"Oh, sorry. I forgot.", she said noticing my face.
"I didn't mean to rub it in."I put on a smile again.
"I know. But you didn't have to force me to come you know. Claire and her clique will pick on me."
"No, they won't. I'll make sure of it", she replies punching her hand in a cute, menacing way. Sam is the shortest and smallest in the whole gang. She was voted by us as the cutest and most innocent teenager alive.Callum was a little further away getting drinks so he hadn't noticed me till he turned around.
