Chapter 9: Kirby's Amusement Park

It's December. The best month of the year! Snow everywhere. Everyone waiting for Christmas Eve. My plans for the first two weeks is Christmas shopping. I already made the list of all the things I need to buy and I already have a plan on Christmas. We are celebrating at Lauren's house. We were going to have Christmas dinner there and we'll meet up again at Suzie's on Christmas morning where we'll have a small celebration with her. Then we are going to each of our neighbors and friends house for giving presents.

We have the same routine every year which is ok with all of us because it is the best way to spend Christmas, at least, I think so. My mom and I will have Christmas morning and breakfast to spend with each other. She'll probably have Christmas dinner with her colleagues as usual.

I went to the salon for a haircut. I haven't cut m hair for over four months and it has grown incredibly long. After that I went to get a DRESS for Christmas. My mom wants me to wear a dress this time since I am a teenager now and she thinks that I should dress more appropriately. Whatever as long as I don't have to wear heels...again.

I found a turquoise dress at Tammy, it was a perfect fit considering that I have an unusual body structure and most clothes don't fit me. The price was within my limit so I got it and found a pair of flat sandals to go with it.

I spent some time trying to find the perfect gifts for the others. I found a green scarf for Sam and a new football for Cal. I was just walking into the sports store to buy it when my phone rang.

Coincidentally, it was Cal.

"Hey Cal, what's up?"

"Oh, nothing much. If you think the gang going to Kirby's Amusement Park is nothing much."

"What? Kirby's? That's way over all our budgets together! And you already know that."

"Well, that's the thing. My dad got a few free tickets from a colleague and by few I mean ten tickets.", Cal said, excitedly.

"What? Who would give away ten tickets?"

I mean seriously. If I got ten tickets I would use them for sure. Plus it was for KIRBY'S!

"That dude's family has gone there three times already and they already booked their tickets to Paris. So they decided to pass."

"Wow."

"So you can come tomorrow? I mean, do you already have plans or something?"

"Are you kidding? I don't care whether I have plans or not. I'm coming!"

"Ok, then. That's six down. I'm gonna invite Mary and I need to find someone for the last ticket."

"How about Nick's brother, Nathan?"

"Do you want Nick to kill me?"

I had a sudden flashback again. But I revived quickly enough to make sure Cal didn't notice.

"Ok, how about Craig?"

"You mean the sophomore? I don't know..."

"Ok, I get it. He's a...sophomore."

"Exactly. Sorry.", Cal said. It seemed as though he thought I really wanted Craig to come.

"It doesn't matter. Invite your mom or something. I don't know. I'll come over to your house by ten ok?"

"Ten? We're leaving at nine. We'll take about an hour to get there so be here by then."

"Ok. Alert the others. See you tomorrow."

I put my phone back in my pocket. I was excited!!!!! Going to Kirby's was my dream since I was ten. My dream's coming true for free!!!

Ok...not for free. Apparently All of us are going with Cal and we need to go in his 8-seater. And only five seats for the ten of us. Mr. Chafner was in the driver's Mrs. Chafner in the passenger. Cal, Sam, Nick, Bree, Lauren, Steve, Ken, Mary, her friend, Emily Dutton and me! We had to squeeze in. I was practically sitting on Emily's lap.

I had a late start in the morning. Had to eat burnt pancakes because I burnt them and run all the way to Cal's house in the snow and I forgot my hat!

Could the day get worse? Well it was also snowing as I ran to Cal's place.

At least I was going to Kirby's. My mom was going to visit an aunt of hers. So she won't be back until late so I was sleeping over at Sam's.

After having my face slam into the window and getting my head bumped on the top a few times, we arrived at Kirby's.

Well, unfortunately luck wasn't on our side. Kirby's was closed for the day, maybe the week, because of bad weather. Can you believe it? After all that? Which means our tickets were a waste since it was getting expired the next day.

Obviously we didn't go to Kirby's the next day. But I checked online whether Kirby's was open that day. And it was!

It was about 1:00 pm. Which means we could reach there by two and we'd have time till about 10:00 pm!

I called Cal right away and told him about it. He was silent for a long time. And then he finally replied," I threw the tickets yesterday."

Imagine my luck!
