"...That's the jingle bell!

That's the jingle bell!

That's the jingle bell rooock!"

All of us stood up and cheered like crazy. That was Sam singing. It sounded like a really tiny kid singing a carol. Mr. Chafner was at the piano. He knew a lot of christmas carols. Deck the halls, Jingle Bells, you name it, he'll play it all. All of us were at Cal's place singing. We even invited Suzie over. You had to see how happy she was. She helped Mr. and Mrs. Chafner prepare Christmas dinner. The Chafners' christmas tree is like the most amazing tree in the whole town. They decorate it with lights and streamers and it nearly touches the ceiling.

We went caroling earlier that afternoon. Right after we visited the orphanage where we gave our donations and helped at the lunch service.

Christmas, was that one day nobody could ruin. Our school dance was next week. For New Year's Eve, I mean. We had finally planned everything since Kim's gonna be away for the whole week. I was going to stay over at Sam's place. But we are all going to have a slumber party at my place on New Year's which is going to be amazing because...wait for it....no parents!!!!

Ok, it's not that I hate my mom or she's really annoying when my friends are around. It's just that she's finally letting me do stuff on my own. She's trusting my choices more.

And I love party planning. I wouldn't be surprised if I wake up one day and say,"I want to be an event planner when I grow up!". So it's going to be fun.

After we had our Christmas dinner; I went with Sam and Mrs. Daley, back to my place to collect my things. I was going to stay with Sam for more than a week!

Christmas morning was better. Everyone came over to Sam's place. I didn't know they were coming and I was still sleeping when they arrived so they all startled me when they yelled,"Merry Christmas", and woke me up.

We exchanged presents. My mom had actually given Mrs. Daley my Christmas present which was this really lovely green dress with flat sandals that go with it.

It had a note that said:

Merry Christmas

Hope you liked this one. I picked flats this time ;)

Enjoy

Love,

Mom

It was really sweet of her. I always had to wear dresses for Christmas but it was a good thing she picked flats. i quickly changed into the dress and went down for Christmas breakfast. We had Mrs. Daley's special christmas pancakes. I dont know but she adds this secret ingredient that she never tells anyone which makes the pancakes taste super delicious. We all tried guessing but never got it right. Then she got us some cranberry spiced muffins and cupcakes with Christmas themed toppings.

Then we got down to opening the rest of the presents. I got all sorts of stuff. A hat, a sweater, a hoodie, a tee... You get the point. It was an amazing day. We went caroling again and visited the church. Then we went to the orphanage and helped out. We had lunch with the kids there. We went by Suzie's place to give her present which was this beautiful purple cocktail dress and she was just so happy. We had dinner at this fancy restaurant and there were so many amazing things too choose from that we all went home stuffed. We went back to Cal's place where we played a few games and watched Home Alone. Then we all left around 1:00 am. Mrs. Daley brought us back and we were so tired that we quickly changed into a pair of PJs and jumped in to bed.

"Goodnight Sam."

"Uh...Jules...I hope you don't mind me asking...don't you feel that this Christmas is...I don't know...strange without...Robin and Jason?"

There was a long silence.

"Jules? I didn't mean to upset you...Jules?"

She was right. Sam was totally right. Despite all the things we did this Christmas, its not complete without them. Even with all that happiness, there was this strange feeling. How could I be doing this without them? It wasn't fair. At least not fair to Robin. I'm pretty sure Robin's cursing me right now. I am just letting go of the whole thing as if it never happened. How is that fair to her? Because of me there is a killer walking these streets free of conviction because the only witness to his crime is too scared to speak up.

"Jules, are you asleep. Please just forget I said anything. Ok?", Sam said. I could feel that she was nearly in tears because she thought she upset me.

I quickly shook all my thoughts away and replied," Goodnight Sam."

"Goodnight"
