It was the day before the new year and everyone was on edge. I didn't even know why. Maybe it's because of the fireworks, some people get scared by loud noises in this goddamn place. Ellie visited me more often after my confession on Christmas.

"I hate this place" I whispered to her when she came to me in the morning for the check up. "I know my love, but remember I promised you to get you out of here" Ellie whispered back and brushed some hair out of my face. I leaned my face against her palm and kissed her wrist. "I know Ellie." I pushed her gently away and stepped back. "You need to go."

She wanted to say something, but I shook my head and she got out. I took a deep breath and sat down on my bed. Tears streamed down my face and my lip trembled. I had lost the last bit of hope that Ellie would get me out of here. I know she tried, but it was impossible, even for her.

It was nearly midnight and the hospital staff found it a good idea to bring the patients outside for the fireworks, but it wasn't. Just as the first rocket exploded, the others started to panic. I looked around and didn't know what I should do, when someone grabbed my hand and pulled me away.

I couldn't see who it was, but it was a woman. She hid her face under a hood and I asked "Who are you? What's happening?" She didn't answered me and kept pulling me into a dark passageway. We stood next to the hospital and I stopped walking. I had enough of this mysterious person. "Who are you?" I screamed at her and she pushed me against the wall.

My eyes widened and fear shot through my body.  "Don't kill me, please" I mumbled and sobbed. Tears streamed down my face and I tried to look into her face, but the hood prevented me from seeing it. Her face came closer to mine and I could feel her breath on my neck. "I promised you, that I would get you out of here" she whispered and I knew immediately who this woman was.

"Ellie?" I sobbed and pushed her hood down. She looked at me and smiled. "Hello my love." She closed the gap between us and kissed me passionately. "Happy new year my love" Ellie whispered and kissed me again. "I love you so much Ellie" I cried and she kissed the tears away. "I love you too and now let's go."

Ellie grabbed my hand and we started running. "Where are we going?" "Somewhere far away" she laughed and I couldn't stop the smile on my lips.
