Genesis grabbed the arms of the man in front of her and roughly yanked them behind his back. With her super-strength and the fact that she was on edge, she nearly yanked his arm right out of his socket. He screamed out in pain.

"You're hurting me!"

Genesis opened her mouth to respond, but before she could she was interrupted. "Officer Battle." She turned her head to face Chris who stood beside her. Chris placed his hand on the arm of the criminal and turned his head to look at her. "Stand down," he said in a calm yet commanding voice.

Genesis glared at him before she reluctantly stepped back. Chris handcuffed the man and read him his rights. He opened the back door and placed the man inside. He shut the door and turned back to lean against it. Chris crossed his arms and stared at her. She glared back. It was a song and dance they had been at since she returned to work. Neither of them said a word. The only sound came from the man in the car as he screamed about police brutality and for his freedom.

Unable to take the silence anymore Genesis huffed and reached for the handle of the passenger door. Chris placed his hand over hers and stopped her from opening the door.

"What?" she huffed out.

Chris didn't say anything and made no move to let her hand go. They just stood there, his hand on hers and his blue eyes locked onto her green ones. Genesis had been struggling from the moment she received her power to control her temper. She felt like she could never get back to the person she was before. She used to be so calm and level-headed. Nothing like the rage-fueled person she currently was. There seemed to be nothing that she could do. Everything upset her. Yet standing there with Chris at that moment, she felt like her old self. She felt her head clear and her heart calm.

"Calm?" he asked as if he knew the answer already.

"Yeah," she said quickly and removed her hand from his. Chris nodded once and opened the door for her. Genesis climbed in without a word. Normally she would have made some comment about being able to open the door herself, but she kept her mouth shut. Chris shut the door and walked around to the driver's seat and climbed in. Genesis sat in a calm daze not even affected by the rants of the man sitting behind her. Which would have bothered her over the last two months.

When they arrived back at the police station she let Chris handle the booking of the criminal. She just needed to get out of there. Walking into the usually busy station set her off. Fellow police officers moved around. They usually conversed amongst themselves. The volume reaching peaks as their voices mixed with those of criminals. The tv playing the local news in the background. Conversations over phones being held. Yet, Genesis felt like every time she stepped foot inside, the noise disappeared. She could hear a pin drop. She knew that people were staring at her, and it was enough to set her off. She felt like everyone knew. They all could see the difference in her. They knew that she was a witch, and they were judging her.

She walked as calmly as she could until she stepped into the locker room and quickly changed into her street clothes so that she could get out of there. Gathering her things, she paid no mind to the door opening and swinging shut a second later. She didn't look up. She refused to. Whoever had stepped foot inside had the ability to make her lose control over herself and her powers and it was best if she avoided them.

As she slammed her locker shut and turned to leave, she came face to face with Chris. He stood leaning against the locker next to hers. He seemed relaxed. Completely in his element. Unbothered by her recent mood swings.

"How are you doing?" he asked.

"Why do you keep asking me that?" Genesis huffed as she swung her bag over her shoulder.
