Liberty stood outside of the apartment and listened to the blare of the sirens as the ambulance approached. She felt surprisingly numb. When the bleeding had first started she had felt terrified. It had felt as if she was being drained, but she wasn't the one in danger. Jonah had lost much more blood, yet Liberty felt her body draining. After Jonah had fallen to the floor it was as if something snapped. Liberty felt nothing. She began to move on autopilot doing everything Isis had asked of her. She called for the ambulance and made her way outside to escort them inside.

Liberty's eyes snapped up when she heard someone speak to her. She focused on the man in front of her and realized that the ambulance and paramedics had arrived.

"My sister is unconscious," she said in almost a robotic tone. Without waiting for them to ask more questions, she turned around and led them into the apartment. She stepped up the stairs and through the open door, the man and woman behind her.

She stepped through the door of the living room and went to stand beside Freedom as the medics approached Isis and Jonah. Her hand instinctively went to Freedom's and clutched it tightly. Freedom returned the death grip.

The medics worked to remove Jonah from Isis' grasp, so that they could work on her. Isis looked incapable of releasing her. Liberty and Freedom turned to look at each other. Liberty noticed that Freedom's usually bright amber eyes lacked color. They typically looked yellow but were almost as brown as hers. A silent communication passed between them and they disconnected hands and walked over to Isis. They each wrapped their arms around her. Isis gave a heavy sigh and removed her arms from around Jonah. They helped her to her feet and stepped back to give the medics space to work, their arms still around Isis.

The medics placed Jonah onto a board and raised her between them and headed out of the apartment. No words were spoken aside from the medical jargon passed between the two. The girls followed behind them and with a fight put up from Isis, they were allowed to ride in the ambulance.

Liberty took the passenger seat and stared out the window. She wanted to cry, but her eyes felt dry. She looked over and saw a half empty bottle of water in the center cup holder. Liberty looked up to be sure that she wasn't being watched and focused back on the bottle. She thought about the bottle refilling. When nothing happened, she moved her hand closer and focused harder. The water level remained the same and she felt a slight throbbing in her head. She felt wetness on her top lip and brought her up and wiped at it. She looked at the blood on her fingers.

"Are you okay?"

She looked up and saw the medic that was driving look over at her in worry.

"Yeah. I'm fine."

She cleaned the remaining blood with a tissue she was handed and turned back to stare out the window.
