Henley

Slowly peeling my eyes open everything comes to me in a blur. Blinking rapidly to make my vision more clear all around me starts to come into sight. White is all over, it looks sterile and smells like bleach. I'm laying in what I assume is a hospital bed. Looking at my arm I have a tube going into it that leads up to a big bag of clear fluids hanging above my head. Turning my head from side to side I notice most of the walls are glass making it able for me to see the person in the room beside me. Rubbing my eyes to get a better view I see Gabby laying in the bed a room away from me. Sitting up quickly I become dizzy and have trouble once again trying to regain my sight. Ripping the tube from my arm I swing my legs over the edge of the bed and stand on them wobbling a little. Trudging over to the clear wall I bang on it trying to get Gabby's attention but she doesn't move, she stays sound asleep.

"Miss. Smith. It's good to see you awake." I turn very quickly to see a man in a lab cot talking to me on the other side of the front wall. He has a clipboard in his hands and he seems to be writing things down as he looks me up and down.

"Where am I?" I yell at him as my weak legs take me to stand in front of him. The last thing I remember was driving away from my home. Saying goodbye to people that we had to leave behind. Reaching for my neck the chain that Carter gave me isn't there and my bracelet is gone as well.

"Where are my things! Those mean a lot to me you can't just take my stuff!" I'm furious the man actually jumps back like I'm going to reach out and grab him.

"Ma'am I'm going to ask you to calm down or I won't be able to answer your questions." He tells me to calm down, really? Slamming both fists to the glass I scream.

"Where's my mother!" he starts pushing buttons on a side panel and the same rose smelling mist starts to fill the room.

"I'm sorry Henley that we have to do this. Your mother will be here shortly but we need to take caution for your safety and ours." The lab coat says to me as I slowly fall to the ground and go back into a deep dark sleep.

"Henley sweetheart?" I hear my moms voice beside my ear. When I turn to face her she's sitting in a chair right beside me. Going to move my arms I only get them half way and notice that I'm now bound to the side rails by some kind of restraint.

"Mom where am I." I ask groggily. Whatever they have given makes me feel exhausted.

"We are at the place I told you about." She grabs my hand and I try to pull away but can't.

"The place you told us about sounded nicer then this. My stuff is gone, I'm chained to a bed, this disgusting mist keeps being blown in my face, I keep waking up with lost time and I'm on some kind of quarantine." I kick my legs on the bed like a child having a tantrum.

"I know it's very confusing. I couldn't tell you about this part cause I knew you wouldn't come. This is actually for your own good. We keep you in here for a week after we administer the shot to you, just you know for precaution. The sleeping mist is just so we can get people here without them seeing things they don't need to see. We've never had to actually use it twice, but leave it up to my daughter to change that." She chuckles a little as she rubs her hand over her forehead. A statement like that usual would of pissed me off and probably would of had me screaming. But when I look at her I see a hint of the mother I used to know. It gives me some strange sense of calmness and I smile a little back at her.

"I would like to take these off your wrists but can you promise me not to go all crazy? I'll answer whatever questions you have." She grabs the leather band bonding my wrists and starts to unhook them. I sit still not wanting to fight anymore.
