An old farmhouse stood proudly on a hill overlooking fields and fields of sheep, cattle and other livestock that is typically consumed by people. The farmhouse was obviously run down with peeling red and brown paint, and splintering wood, the house seemed to groan with every gust of wind and by the way it leaned to the right anyone walking by would think it would collapse with the slightest touch.

Despite its appearance it was a very sturdy house, it has been standing for 80 or so years with minimal maintenance. It was a four room house, two for bedrooms, one for the bathroom and the last was the living and kitchen area. For the family of five that lived there it was slightly too small but they were used to it and couldn't afford any different. All the money they earned went into the sheep they ran.

It was early in the morning but all members of the family have been up for hours already. It was reaping day and they needed to get their chores done early and another shipment of sheep and chickens needed to be sent to the capitol. Those that lived their tended to eat more and have more parties when the hunger games where being held. It demanded for more food and District 10 being the sole meat providers had to work twice as hard for the exact same pay.

Theoden Mirimee has lived on the farm all his life. His father owned it before him and his father before that, his son and first born Kade will be next to take over the place. When he was 21 years of age he met the love of his life Laina, a year later they were married and two years after that Kade was born. He was a handful as a baby and seemed to never stop crying, they decided to wait until he had settled before having more children. He was two when Dahna was born and a year later an unexpected but not unwelcome Shaelyn arrived. His family was finally complete and he couldn't be happier.

Then Kade turned 12 and his happy life grew into a stressed and worries life. His children were now of age to be reaped and his biggest fear was that they would enter the games and never come back, just like his younger brother.

Despite Kade being the one in the running to own the farm, Theoden's most enthusiastic child on the farm was Dahna. For as long as he could remember Dahna was outside with the animals. Whether she was running through a flock of sheep, who never seemed to mind her there, or checking on the chickens, it didn't matter as long as she wasn't inside. Every morning she would rise with her father and they would check the fencing and waters before heading back to the house to find the rest of the family finally awake and waiting at the breakfast table for them.

That day though Dahna wished for nothing more than to stay in bed. She wanted curl up in a ball under the covers and listen to her brother's snores and her sister's deep breaths until the reaping was over. Unfortunately that wasn't allowed and there was too much work to be done before the ceremony.

At that moment Dahna and her sister Shaelyn were grabbing the chickens that were destined for the block. It was a messy job and they were both covered head to toe in dirt, sweat, feathers and what suspiciously looked like bird poop. They were both laughing, enjoying the calm before the storm, as they ran around the large coop trying to grab the last hen.

"Grab it. Grab it!" Shaelyn encouraged, giggling as Dahna head dove straight into the dirt and missed the bird by it's tail feather.

"Stupid chicken," Dahna muttered. She stood up, spit the dirt from her mouth and dusted her self off, glaring at the clucking animal across the pen. Her good mood was gone. "Stop laughing and help me!"

"Sorry," Shaelyn tried to hold back her laughter and failed spectacularly. "It was just one of the funniest things I've seen since Kade got distracted by Mr. Thomson's daughter next door and ran the tractor straight into the hay shed."

"That wasn't funny, we spent weeks re-building that shed," Dahna said heading for the runaway again. "Now help me catch this stupid animal. You head to the right and we will corner it."
