I've got my fingers laced together and I've made a little prison, and I'm locking up everyone who's ever laid a finger on me.
Yellow Flicker Beat: Lorde
Louis had just finished brushing his teeth when his cell phone had rung.
He had spat out his toothpaste, rubbed his red and puffy eyes, he hadn't been sleeping much lately, and reached inside his pocket to retrieve his phone.
When he had seen who was calling, he heart skipped a beat. He had only talked to her once or twice since she had left, mostly because it hurt too much to speak to her but not be able to touch her or see her. He was worried about her. Hell, when was he not? He was worried about how her reunion with her friend had gone, how Harry was adjusting to the situation of there being another man in her life once again, and how she was handling being in the same town her parents died in.
He swiped the screen to receive the call and brought his phone up to his ear. "Sweet pea?"
"Louis," he heard her cry on the other end of the line. "Oh my god, I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry."
He tried to fight back the yawn that was escaping his throat but failed. "Sweet pea? What happened? Why are you crying? Calm down."
He walked out of the bathroom and sat down on his bed, elbows resting on his knees. All he could hear on the other end of the line was heavy breathing and sniffles. She was having another panic attack. He plugged his phone in quickly to the wall and put it on speaker so he could pace around his room and think. When he hadn't heard her speak for a while he repeated. "Olivia."
He spent the next several minutes trying to calm her down and telling her to breathe when suddenly, the lights flashed in his flat and the entire room went black.
Power surge.
"Olivia?" he said frantically into the phone, she wasn't in the right mental state right now to not be on the phone with him. He saw his phone screen lighting up with several different colors. The surge messed up his phone because it was plugged in.
He tried time and time again to turn it on, but it wouldn't budge. He had no idea what she could be doing right now. Why would she be calling him right now? At this moment?
And then he knew.
"Niall?" he yelled. "Niall, where are you?"
He heard talking downstairs and figured that must've been him on the phone. He rushed down the stairs tripping on the last step. "Hey Lou," Niall smiled, happy to see his friend look more alive than he had in th last few days. "Wait, Lou what's wrong?" he quickly corrected, eyebrows furrowed. Without answering his question, Louis instead just lunged for the phone and snatched it out of the blonde's hand. "What the hell mate?"
"Haz," he choked out through his tears. "Go check on my baby." That's what he now referred to her as. She was his child. And he had sworn to protect her but she was so cunning, she knew to do this where he would never be able tor reach her. He just had to make sure that Harry and Carter could save her this time like he did the last. "Go check on her right now. Go check oh my god go find her please." He was sobbing by this point and his voice was going out slowly but surely. Niall was staring at his friend in horror, wondering what sort of event could have him so chaotic.
