Lacey's P.O.V.
The sun was going to rise in a few hours and anyways an excuse to get out of this hellish training was fine by me. We all went inside. Vampires that had snuck out of the rooms to watch the training were now slinking back to their rooms where they spent most of their days. Before going back to my room, I grabbed a bottle of wine out of the fridge. The alcohol calmed down our thirst and left us a little buzzed. Too bad it didn’t get us drunk. I could sure use that right about now.
Grabbing a glass, I went upstairs to my room. I changed my outfit again because I got rips and dirt all of it. Well, Daray was the one who ripped my pants actually. With a sigh, I sat on my bed and stared at the wall directly across from me. Within thirty seconds, I was already bored. My eyes darted around the room, looking for something to do. I saw the crossword book lying on the otherwise empty desk. I wanted to a crossword but I was too lazy to get up and get it. Hmm…I thought to myself.
My eyes narrowed in on the crossword and I put all my focus into the picking up the flimsy book with my mind. I achieved my goal. The book, casually, floated up in the air. Out of excitement, I lost my focus and it dropped about a foot until I stopped it. Then it made its way over to me. Smiling, I started doing that with other objects in the room. First, I started off with small objects and then I worked my way up all the way to the dresser. It landed a little too loudly because a few vampires downstairs grumbled about not getting any peace or quiet. Without apologizing, I started my crossword. The rest of the day went by slowly and I finished about half the crosswords and two bottles of wine. My mouth still burned and I was growing more anxious for tonight’s hunt. I was going with Drew instead of Daray and Ginger. They were going near St. Louis to plant a fake trail for Meo’s coven. I didn’t like them doing that but to be out of their sight was going to be nice even if I was going to be with Drew.
They were here. Meo, Morgan, Charlie, Travis and Greg were here. They were fighting Daray and Ginger’s coven. Charlie and Greg were severely hurt, looking like they were going to die. The others were so close to losing their own, individual battles. I tried to fight alongside them and help them, seizing my opportunity for escape. Even with my help, they lost. Only Travis escaped alive. I was thrown into my room by Daray and Ginger. They came in and locked the door behind them. Before Daray even turned around, I was on the floor, screaming and writhing in pain. Outside of the vision, I had to bite down on my lips to make sure no sound escaped my lips.
“Usually we kill members of our coven who commit treason but you are too special to us.” Ginger explained over my screams. ”Even though we are sparing your life does not mean we will accept you with open arms. You will have to earn back our trust. So you will always be with one of us. If you do decide to try and commit treason again , we will not spare you like we did this time.” Daray stopped using his gift long enough for me to listen to Ginger. “Do you understand?” I nodded, shaking uncontrollably.
“Alright, Daray. Have fun with her.” And then she left.
I forced myself out of the vision. I already knew what was going to happen to me. I didn’t need a vision to see it. I shuddered at the thought.
Their plan wasn’t going to work. It was going to fail miserably. That meant I was out of options. If I fought with them, I would be torture and my every move would be watched and if I didn’t fight with them, our coven would be paranoid and my every move would still be watched. No matter what happened the outcome would be relatively the same. I couldn’t get in contact with them to tell them not to come. I couldn’t call them up. My only option was to escape and escape tonight. That thought made my insides turn cold but this was my best chance. Drew would be easy to distract and fight. The only problem was that I didn’t know where they lived exactly. Snow was on the ground and the news was giving a broadcast for the St. Louis area. I knew the area that Daray and Ginger were going so I would be able to stay clear of their path. Once I got close, I would be able to find them hopefully. This was my ticket to freedom. I was going to be out of here and helping on the good side of the war.
