Lacey's P.O.V.

I was face to face with another vampire. He had curly, black hair that fell in his mossy green eyes. He was tall and muscular. I’d seen him before and knew exactly who he was. Meo. A part of me was relieved but I knew not to trust him yet.

“Are you alone?” Meo asked, sniffing the air.

“Yes, I ran away.” I told him.

“How?” He asked, surprised.

“I just did.” I gritted through my teeth. No way was I going to tell him what I did to get here. He eyed me suspiciously. “I escaped to help you. I had a vision of your plan and Travis was the only one to make it out alive.”

“So it’s true.” He said, in awe.

“Yes.” I said, a little more softly.

“Can I take you to my coven?” Meo asked, cautiously. I nodded, happier than I’ve felt since I changed. I was on the right side of the war now.

The drive was tense. I let Meo drive so I could gain his trust. While he was driving, Meo kept looking at me or to be more exact my jaw. It was very tight, painfully tight. I couldn’t think straight anymore. How badly I wished that I had killed that man in the gas station. It was a terrible, horrible thing to do but anything would be better this fiery, hot pain. Blood seemed worth it. No it was worth it.

“You’re thirsty.” Billy said. He said it matter of factly but I still treated it as a question.

“Very.” I gritted out of my teeth. I clutched the edges of the seat, hoping that would help with the pain. I ripped the leather apart, exposing the insides of the seat. I looked up at Meo, embarrassed. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to.”

“Here” He said, cutting off my rushed apologies. He was holding out his exposed arm like Daray did for me. My eyes grew wide as I realized what he wanted me to do.

“No, no. I can wait.” I said, but my mouth was bitter with venom. I wanted blood. Any form of it.

“Just do it. It will be alright.” He said, pushing his wrist in my face. I looked at him like he was crazy but I needed it so bad. I put my lips on his wrists. I looked up at him, silently asking him if it was still alright. He nodded, encouraging me. I sank my teeth into his stone hard wrist. His blood was nothing compared to a living human. It was cold and had a bitter after taste but I couldn’t get enough of it. There was a slightly sweet taste when it first touched my tongue that Daray’s didn’t have. I closed my eyes and imagined he was a human. That I was taking his life.

“Lacey, that’s enough.” Meo’s words bit through my vision. I was awakened from my blood driven trance. My mouth was still burning but I was able to manage. What I couldn’t manage was inhumane my thoughts were when I was drinking from him. I unlatched my teeth and looked back up at him, humiliated. “When is the last time you’ve fed?” I counted back in my head.

“Three days.” I admitted, sheepishly. My thirst was so out of control.

“Don’t be ashamed. You’re young. It’s going to take a while to be able to tame your thirst fully.” Meo tried to comfort me. I couldn’t take this uncontrollable raging fire in my mouth every day, every second of the day for much longer. “There are lots of other vampires where we are going. We can help you with your needs.” He sounded awkward and frustrated. I nodded, feeling on edge. Meo was talking like he was sure they were going to trust and take me in. I wasn’t so sure. But I didn’t have time to worry about that. I needed to have my eye out for what Daray and Ginger were doing and try to focus on my burning thirst. I ignored my thirst and looked for Daray and Ginger in my visions. They were still hunting. Nobody suspected a thing.
