𝘾𝙝𝙖𝙥𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙎𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙣: "Wonderstudies."
We arrived at my house and I dumped my board & helmet on the porch, before opening the door. Mom's car was still here so I assumed she had picked Louisa up from daycare already and was about to leave for work.
"Mom, I'm home!"
"In the kitchen!"
"Just put your stuff down there, it's fine." I told Ricky, motioning to the pile of shoes beside the door.
I went into the kitchen and saw mom shoving leftovers into her lunch bag.
"How was rehearsal today?"
"Full on as usual. Where's Lou?"
"Watching tv."
Ricky entered the kitchen and I smiled. "Oh, mom, this is Ricky, a friend from school. He's in the musical too."
"Hello Ricky, I'm Carla." Mom smiled.
"Nice to meet you."
"Is it okay if Ricky hangs out here for a while? We're gonna watch some movies after Lou goes to bed." I asked.
"It's fine, just as long as you clean up whatever mess you make. I have to go but remember, Lou has to be in bed by eight thirty, and has to take her medication an hour before."
"Yes, yes, I know."
Mom grabbed her lunch bag and water bottle then walked around the counter and pressed a kiss to my forehead. We followed her out of the kitchen and into the living room. My sister was sat on the floor, craning her neck looking up at the tv screen.
Paw Patrol was on.
I can't tell you how many times I've seen that show. I know all the characters, everything. It's not normal for a 16 year old to know that much about a kids program I tell you.
"Bye bye my sweet girl." My mom said, picking up Lou. "Mommy's going to work now but big sissy is going to look after you."
"I love you mommy." Lou said, hugging mom tightly.
She walked over to me and handed Lou over. Lou snuggled right into my shoulder as we waved goodbye to mom.
"See you in the morning. Nice meeting you again Ricky!
