Chapter 8 | As you damn well should

*Lucas' PoV*

I was never so sure of one thing in my life before.
Laying my whole future in her hands even with the cost of leaving my family and my pack just felt absolutely right.

I was bewitched by her.
She was my future.
I was sure of it. Even if she would drive me insane.

She was walking beside me, lost in her thoughts.

She shot me an uncertain look, biting her lip in frustration.

"Are you sure you want to leave? Maybe we can find a different solution. I can't just let you say goodbye to everything you have ever loved.", she said.

"I'm certain, besides as long as your by my side everything will be fine.", I reassured her.

"Ok..then we will leave in a week? I can't just request of you to pack everything and go.", she said, bad conscience nagging at her.

"Of course my moon, but we will have to go to Alpha Jacob first."

"Are you sure he will let you go?"

"He will understand", I took her hand and squeezed it reassuringly.

She still looked unsure and I didn't know what to do about it.

As I heard a loud grumble coming from my mates stomach,
I looked at her questioningly.

She was blushing at the loud sound her stomach just produced.

"Well I guess we have to get breakfast first?", I asked, smiling at her.

"Uh yeah, probably..", she mumbled.

"I think we should go to the packhouse, they should be serving breakfast right now." , I told her.

"I don't think that will be a good idea. I'm pretty sure the pack won't like me much. I'm taking away their Beta afterall.", she looked guilty, saying that.

I cupped her cheek, tilting her head towards me.

"They are going to like you, I'm sure.
Besides it's my decision.
They know I would only do things in the best interest of the pack.
They will understand that I can't just let you go, you're my mate afterall.", I explained to her,
pressing a soft kiss to her forehead.

She looked at my eyes but then her gaze swayed to my lips, staying there.
She cupped my neck, pulled me down to her and kissed me.

It was just a peck and it left me wanting more, but I wasn't sure if she would be comfortable with me kissing her full on.

Her eyes twinkled, "You're overthinking things, really. Just kiss me I'm not going to push you away."

So I did what I was told.

I started kissing her softly, but fast we got more heated as we went on, both of our tounges fighting for dominance. I liked the fire that I tasted and she seemed to be enjoying kissing me as well.

After a few minutes, we pulled away.
Breathless I stared into her eyes.
And then her stomach growled again.

Smirking down at her, I grabbed her hand and pulled her towards the packhouse.

The dining hall was quite empty, as expected not many people were here.
We were just about 200 wolves in the pack and besides most preferred to eat at their own houses.

But I saw my sister and my brother among the few that sat in the hall.

I pulled Jane towards them, she still being a bit stunned from our makeout session.

Ellie raised her brows suggestively at us, having caught on what had happened a few minutes prior.

And Thomas looked at me dissaprovingly.

"Nice to know you didn't bother to tell me you had a mate, if El' hadn't told us. We still wouldn't know", he told me dryly.

Then stuck his hand out to greet Jane.

"Who is 'we'?", I looked at Ellie, her expression turning innocent.

Thomas cackled, "Well, seems like you're going to face the wrath of our mother later, it's the reason why I decided to join my sister at breakfast."

He seemed happy about this, that bastard.

I heard Jane chuckling beside me, amused by our antics.

I decided to ignore my brother and turned to my mate, her already sitting beside me.

I saw the curious gazes of the other present wolves most smiling at my mate and some not bothered and still eating.

I looked at Jane and gestured towards the food. "Serve yourself.", I smiled at her.

She smiled back, looking as beautiful as ever.

A few seconds later pancakes and jelly-sandwiches were stacked on her plate, she seemed to be very hungry.

While my mate practically inhaled her food, I talked with Ellie, scolding her for telling our family about me finding my mate.

I watched Jane shoveling food into herself, as if she hadn't eaten for days...she probably hadn't.

"When was the last time you have eaten something?", I looked at her accusingly.

She stopped eating.
"Err...depends? I ate some berries here and there, made myself some tea. I haven't been into a town for awhile, so a real full meal..I guess not for a few weeks.", she replied honestly.

I put some more food on her plate, after hearing this. Looking sternly at her.

She laughed a bit under her breath at my reaction.

My siblings looked stunned, not knowing how to handle this information. I looked at them reassuringly.

"So how's training the wolves?",I asked my sister.

She got all serious again. "You know how it is", she looked self-confident at me, "I don't go easy with them.

"No, you don't", I scoffed.
Ellie merely smirking at me.

"How would you feel about being Beta?", I asked her.

"You know I won't take that position from you.", she narrowed her eyes at me, "what is bringing this on? We discussed this a long time ago."

I watched her carefully,
yes we had talked much about that topic, it was something Alpha Jacob had long contemplated on and had us siblings almost rivaling for the position. But that was in the past and El' was reading me too well.

"Unless you're thinking of leaving...", Ellie trailed of.

I nodded slightly, to confirm it.

Ellie glanced at Jane, who was now tensely looking at her plate, while still chewing.

I nodded again.

"Okay bro, whatever you decided on I respect it, I'm happy for you and also for you Jane, just stay out of trouble, please? Will you come back?, she sighed searching for answers from me.

"I will try my hardest." , I looked determined at my sister.

She nodded approvingly.
"As you damn well should!"

Jane also tuned in.
"I won't let anything happen to him, us or you. With everything in my power I'll do my best to protect him.", she promised.

My ego should have been hurt by that last sentence but it only made me proud and in awe of my wonderful mate.

"Only if you also let me protect you, angel.", I smiled at my mate.

Yass, I finished the chapter finally.

I'm sooo sorry for not updating in so long (I doubt many will read it anyways but..eh), but now that I have a bit more time..I may update more frequently.
