Rays of sunlight shone through my window, waking me up early. I stole the bathroom before Shane could and took a very long shower. When I got out I threw on a blue hoodie, skinny jeans, and creme toms. Even though it was a beautiful day the air was brisk. I headed back into the living room and saw a note laying on the table. From now on, meet me back here at 3 everyday.~Shane. I folded the note and put it in my back pocket. After breakfast I decided to go explore the classrooms. They were... beautiful! They were made up of three story, tan buildings that were in the shape of a W. The hallways were in doors and I could see magnificent windows peeking out to where I was standing. For once in my life, I actually wanted to go to school.
I heard a noise coming from a tree that was planted in the courtyard out front the first dip in the W. Transfixed I stumbled towards the massive tree. Sitting in one of the branches was a young girl about 9 years old. She was strumming on a guitar and singing. Her voice boomed throughout the whole courtyard. It was the most amazing sound I had ever heard. I just stood at the base of the tree looking up at her, swaying to the music. Suddenly the music stopped and the girl coughed. " Umm... How long have you been watching me?" I realized she was talking to me,and that I had been staring at this girl for what could have been ten minutes. "Oh my gosh,I'm sorry! Your music is just so... enchanting." I said in what I hoped was a compliment. She nodded and hopped down from the tree, dust flying as she hit the ground. "So I have been told." She started walking away towards the school, her guitar swinging back and forth in her hand. I ran up behind her, "Wait, whats your name?"
She turned and faced me, "Layla. Whats yours?" Now her foot was tapping on the ground, up and down and up and down. Yet again, I could not seem to pull my attention away from her feet. I could feel her eyes boring into my head. The energy in her foot faded, and soon it stopped tapping all together. "Hello?" She snapped her fingers in front of my eyes. "Oh, its Sara." I stuck out my hand and her little one shook it. "Aren't you a little young to be at Joeden?" I asked her. "Yes I am." She stated matter of factly. "Then-?" I began but she interupted, " Apparently the school thinks my power is to great to be out in the underpowered world, and I have no where else to go anyways." She told me. "Whats your power?" I wondered. "I haven't told anyone really." Her eyes darted around, like she was nervous. My eyes followed hers, hypnotizing. "I'm really sorry! I can't help it!" She yelped. My attention was back in the real world, "What are you talking about?" My eyebrows knit together as I said this, I was so confused. "Your the first person I'm telling this to, so don't tell anyone." She held out her pinkie, it hovered in the air for a second before mine locked in with it "I promise."
"Ok well I can hypnotize people, and that's why I'm here so young because I need to learn how to control it. Also I don't have a family so I will probably live here till I'm eighteen." I wasn't sure if I could believe her, I mean that's an incredible power! I will have to ask Shane about it when I see him. "Well I got to go!" She turned and took off towards the back forest. I was going to chase her, but I had already lost sight of her bouncing blond pig tails. I headed back to the main field, where I saw Allen playing basketball with a few other guys. I sat at the edge of the forest, watching the game and relaxing. Before I knew it I had drifted off into a light sleep. I was soon to be awoken by a smirking Allen. "Taking a nap?" He asked sitting down next to me, resting his hand on my knee. "Ya, sorry." I groggily rubbed my hands to my eyes and let out a huge yawn, stretching out my arms. "Well, get up!" he shook my leg and then grabbed my upper arm pulling me up. "Holy crap! What time is it!?" I grabbed on to Allen's shirt. He glanced down at his watch. "2:58." I mumbled cuss words under my breath and took off running dragging Allen behind me.
"Whats the big deal?" He huffed and puffed behind me. "Must be home at 3." I managed to get out through my burning lungs. We stopped right out front my door. He grabbed me into a quick hug and whispered "Dance, meet me at the cafeteria at seven?" Oh crap I had totally forgotten! "Ya, see you then." I ran inside the house and right into Shane who was looking out the window spying on me. "Is that boy making you late?" he asked teasingly and then pinched my nose. "Knock it off." I swatted his hand away and crashed onto the couch. "So whats our plan?" I asked him casually. "Well, I was thinking we would head back to the training center and work on control." I could tell by the look on his face, that I was meant to take that offensively. "I have plenty of control!" I tried to punch him lightly, but he was standing to far away and my tight fist ended up hitting my own knee.
