SOMETIMES EDEN WONDERED how she survived certain situations and if she'd just been lucky or rather cursed because she was put into these kind of situations more often than she liked. Yes, she was in a situation like that at this moment. With her back pressed against a pair of double doors, Nick right next to her doing the same to keep the walkers outside the abandoned cellar they had found shelter in. They barely made it inside in time, Eden had already felt a walker grabbing the sleeve of her jacket when she finally stumbled through the doors and into safety.

Desperate to keep the walkers outside, both Eden and Nick tried their best at keeping the door closed but struggled with at least five walkers pressing their undead bodies against the doors from the outside. The continuous thuds that were created by the walkers slamming their dead weight against the wood caused for Eden's headache to intensify, making it worse than it already was.

Almost frantic, Eden looked around, her eyes searching for something to block the doors with. She knew they wouldn't be able to keep this up much longer. When she spots a crate standing by the wall, she looks from the crate to Nick. Noticing he was closer to it, she called over the walker's growls, "Nick! The crate!"

For a second, Nick looked confused, having no idea what she was referring to until his eyes followed hers and spotted the crate as well. When Nick left to get the crate, following Eden's curt demand, though, he also left her alone by the door. Not having expected for Nick to leave so suddenly and without another word, Eden wasn't prepared and couldn't push against the weight of the walkers any longer — 120 pounds against what felt like 500, she stood no chance and stumbled backwards.

"Nick... !" She grunted when she watched the doors open slowly. A hand managed to slip through the small gap and in the matter of seconds, the walker got inside. Eden was quick to react — she pulled her machete out in no time and killed the monster with a precise swing of it. The sickening sound of cracking bones drowned out the moans of the other walkers when the blade broke through the undead's skull.

Ready to split another head open, Eden turned back around but before more walkers got the chance to enter, Nick shoved the crate in front of the doors, blocking them by that. Eden relaxed a little, putting her machete back into its holster and told herself they were safe, it was alright.

Anxiously, Nick started pacing up and down while Eden slumped down in front of the crate by the doors — she'd rather be safe than sorry —, her eyes focused on the walker. She was annoyed she hadn't gotten a chance to throw it back outside. It smelled horrible.

But that was the least of her worries. It got pushed in the back when Eden got reminded of what happened by the river. She struggled when she contemplated whether she should tell Nick about Pete or not, not knowing how the man who had already lost his mom would take the loss of another family member. Eventually, she decides that Nick needed to know of Pete's fate, though. She couldn't just keep him in the dark, not about something like this. He would find out one way or another.
