-I actually had to look up what libraries were like in the renaissance, so uh this isn't going to be too historically accurate because there wasn't that much oof
-also Italian google translate, so my bad Italians
Y/N's p.o.v
"Scusi miss? Could you help me find the Canterbury Tales?" a young boy asked from behind me. I turned around, tucking a strand of my H/C hair behind my ear. "Of course I can" softly replying and lead him down a row of books before stopping in front of a top shelf. My finger trailed across the frayed spines before stopping on a dark red book. "Here it is piccolo(little one), hope you enjoy" handing him the book with a soft smile when I saw his wide grin. "Grazie signorina!"(Thank you miss) and he ran off when he heard the voice of his mother.
With a sigh, I soon realized it was getting dark peering out the large window behind me. One half of the walls of my small library was all window because it could cut the cost of candles obviously. Do you know how much those cost? There also the fact you had one of the best views in all of Italy, if I do say so myself. I weaved through rows of books to check if anyone else was still here because I lived at my library. There was a small living quarters below my beloved library and I couldn't exactly have peace and quiet with someone bustling upstairs.
I breathed in a deep sigh of content through my nose and started to close up shop. Latching up all the locks of the door of the main entrance, I pulled down the curtains of the front windows. Then walking to each of the candles to blow them out yet, something told me to keep one still lit. I shrugged and decided to roll with it. When I walked to the large window, my eyes widening at how big the moon was as it slowly rose into the sky. Something outside in the distance caught my eye running across the rooftops.
I squinted and my E/C eyes were able to make out the shape of a man. Several other shadowy figures were racing after him, trying to strike him and I couldn't help but watch. His movements were so fluid and quick that I didn't notice him get closer to the window. One by one the figures fell and he stood there frozen on the rooftop. A sudden loud bang caught me and him both startled but I soon had a problem when I realized he coming at my window. With one hand, I picked my F/C dress running for a place to hide and take cover. I rushed behind a shelf, shrinking my self together in a helpless attempt to hide from this possible attacker.
CRASH!
My eyes squeezed shut at the sound of someone crashing through the glass. I held my breath listening for he would do. The man cursed under his breath while trying to pull himself off the ground. I peered over towards the window from my hiding spot, seeing the intruder wore white and red robes. The man gripped right arm with his left hand wincing in pain as he struggled to get off the broken shards. A sneeze suddenly escaped from me and my frightened eyes met his surprised ones.
"Don't be afraid la signorina, I mean no harm" he managed to get out before wincing in pain. My feet slowly carried me over to this injured man, then offered my arm for him to grab onto. His large hand grabbed my arm, stumbling towards me which caught both of us off balance. My back hit the side of the shelf, both of his hands landing besides each side of my face. I was trapped. Since we were this close, I could get a good look at him and he was very handsome. He had deep brown hair pulled into a low ponytail, tan skin, brown eyes and a scar over his smirking lips. "My, my, bella, what are you doing in a place like this?" his smooth voice made me shudder but I soon snapped back with "Me!? You just crashed through my window!". The man backed up, still holding his bleeding arm with a sigh "true".
I placed a hand on my hip remarking "Now if you tell me your name, I will fix that arm up for you". "Thank you signorina, My name is Ezio Auditore da Firenze! Just call me Ezio" this man was very extravagant but he did make for some good company. "Alright, wait here Ezio, I'll be back" and before he could say anything, I had left him in the moonlight.
Ezio's p.o.v
To be honest, she's probably going off to turn me in. I wouldn't be surprised. I had the feeling I should be escaping but the countless rows of books were beckoning. I was soon consumed by the large shadows as I walked down, my free hand lightly tracing the shelves of countless titles. Something tells me that whoever this woman was, that she really cared for books based on their well-kept conditions.
"A fan of books signor?" the woman's voice asked from behind which caused me to jump. "I guess you could say that, a friend of mine, he loves them especially" she walked up beside me and grabbed a black book off of the shelf. She began to rant about books but I wasn't listening because I was so hypnotized by her beauty. Her soft H/C locks, radiating smile, soothing voice and bright E/C eyes that pierced through the darkness. "Ezio, Ezio, Ezio!" I snapped out of my trance, seeing her waving a hand in front of my face. "Oh sorry, I spaced out!" laughing awkwardly which caused her to laugh softly with a smile. "Now" she pointed over to a spare chair in the corner close to the window "sit". I followed her firm orders.
I walked over the chair and sat down for her to look at my arm. The librarian grabbed at my arm and observed my injury. She grabbed a pair of scissors starting to cut at my sleeve. "What are you doing!?" exclaiming in distress, that was a big mistake. Her eyes narrowed in annoyance snapping back with "Do you want your arm healed or not?! Before you say anything, YOU Ezio, are the one who crashed through my window". I huffed because the librarian was right. I soon realized I never got her name as she started to dab at the several large cuts on my arms. "You know bella, I never got your name" looking back up at the librarian trying to put on my charm. "Oh, how silly of me, My name is Y/N L/N" quickly replying as she worked on fixing up my arm. Soon Y/N had wrapped up my injured arm then said "All done signor" then handed me my sleeve. Hopping up to my feet, I gently grasped her hand and quickly kissed her knuckle.
Then I made my way back to the window and took one last look at the blushing Y/N. I smirked with a chuckle which she exclaimed with the wave of her hand "wait are you waiting for signor! GO before they find you!" in a flustered state. I gave a wink and leapt off into the night with her still stuck in my mind. Then for her kind gesture of fixing my arm and letting me hide, I had the perfect idea on how to pay her.
The next day.......
Y/N L/N walked downstairs into her library hearing a few male voices coming from outside. Brushing off her dress, she made her way to the broken window and looked down to see three men with supplies. "Mi scusi signori, perche sei qui?" the librarian tiredly asked hoping it wasn't anything money related. A worker man answered her "le mie scuse miss, we've been sent to fix your broken window" pointing upwards at the the gaping hole in her beloved library. "Oh! wonderful!" Y/N happily clasped her hands and rushed towards the door to let in the men. They made their way upstairs then soon got to work. "Oh signora?" one of the worker men caught her attention walking over to her as Y/N started to organize a few books. The man handed Y/N a small note then turned back around. The librarian read it to herself.
"Dear Y/N, hope I repaid you enough through fixing your window. I wish to get to know you more bellissima, but I understand if you don't. If you wish to know me better too, meet me outside of Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore tonight"
A soft smile came across her face as she held the note to her chest muttering "I'll be there".
