[I'm really sorry this took so long to get out. But it's finally here and the end is nearing! And before the end I'll be posting redraws of the monster designs in the book and hopefully some more illustrations of the series, if ya'll want them]

(Duni’s p.o.v)

I ducked into the hole and looked around more. It was completely dark out with no stars or moon. The only light came from a certain kind of monster, they looked like young girls with hallow black eyes that dripped with a tar like substance that had a slight red hue to it.

They had feathered wings and two types of tails, a smooth, long, this tail with a large scorpion like stinger on the end and a cat like tail. Most of them had their two tails intertwined. Cat like ears sat on their heads and flicked about constantly as they listened for any type of noise. They had mostly dark colors dark hair, dark clothes, dark fur and feathers. I would barely be able to see them if they weren't carrying the lit lanterns. The lanterns.

They carried lanterns both in hand or at the end of a short wooden staff as they seemed to patrol the area. Some of the other monsters were clearing out as it got darker. Something about the lanterns and their light felt. Wrong.

I gulp and shrink back lightly as my hands begin to shake. My eyes dart around desperately for some kind of safe way to get past them.

Then I heard it. Desperate breathing, harsh running and hushed talking as two people ran out from a hiding spot to try and escape. The reaction of the monsters was instant as they flocked over and ripped the two off of the ground and into the air. They clustered in the air as they clawed, yanked and slashed at the two struggling people who were repeatedly dropped and thrown about in the air.

I might as well take this opportunity. I moved quickly and quietly as I could into the forest. As soon as I had the cover of the trees I ran full speed and didn't stop. Eventually a small misstep sent me flying through the brush and onto harsh stone and gravel.

I looked up from my spot in the ground, my heart pounding in my chest and my breath coming in desperate gasps. In front of me was a large tower made of black steel with a strange red wiring built into the walls that gave an eerie glow.

Two women laid against the front walls of the tower, displayed like some kind of warning. But that didn't disturb me as much as the identity of the women did.

It was The lady of the land and The Lady of the Sea. From the looks of it they never stood a chance against whatever did this.
