Fourteen.

Rachel's POV

"Oh how I've missed you so much" she states

"I missed you too. Are you doing ok?" I ask

"I am now know my son is in good hands" she says

We spent at least an hour catching up. Next thing I know we were back at his room.

"Alright Zayn I'm gonna check your vitals and make sure everything else is ok" I state noticing someone unfamiliar in the room.

"And you are" she asks rudely

"Now Perrie be nice" his mum says and Zayn just stares at me.

"Well I am his Dr. so I need to do to what my job requires" I state

"Well your so young how do we know that you know how to do your job" she says rudely

"I can for sure tell you that yes I am young but I graduated early with my Doctoral degree and went through a lot of schooling and training. But by all means if you think you can do my job better than I can then please be my guest. I have other patients to check on who would appreciate my help" I say taking a deep breathe and walking out. I do not have time for that bullshit.

"You ok Rach you look angry" Dr. Sheppard asks

"I'm so annoyed. I just had someone question me if I know how to do my job" I say shaking my head as he laughs.

"Ok well I will check in on him but can you check on these last four patients for me before you leave for lunch" he asks

"Of course" I say grabbing the charts. I look them over and head into the rooms which is odd they are all next to each other away from other patients. I walk in to a whole bunch of noise.

"Rachel" I head and I look up to see my old best friend Louis.

"Oh my are you all in here. Are you all ok" I ask

"Yeah but we just don't know about Zayn. Have you seen him yet" he asks and my face immediately turned angry.

"You met Perrie didn't you" he states

"You could tell" I say laughing

"Yes love just by your face what happened" he asks and next thing I know a couple more people entered the room with Dr Sheppard

"I just got hit on by I believe the patients girlfriend" he states and I just laugh

"Any who these patients I gave you to check yeah well they are discharged so you don't need to check on them" he stares smiling at me

"I hate you" I say laughing

"Yes but you can go to lunch now" he says

"Finally" I say

"But wait we need to catch up" Louis says frowning

"Meet me in the cafeteria" I stated and rushed out the room. I tried to quickly walk past his room to not be noticed but oh I was

"Dr. Johnson" I hear and immediately stopped walking. I turn around and walk into the room with a fake smile slapped on my face.

"I would like to apologize to you, you are the Dr and I shouldn't question it" she states

"I may be young but I went through a lot of studying and college classes as well as my mum being a dr and teaching me things so next time you want to question what I'm doing I will kick you out of my hospital room. Do you understand me?" I say to her and she just gulps.

"And apology not accepted. Now if you'll excuse me" I say walking out the room while I hear laughter. I head down to the cafeteria and see my lunch waiting with the boys. I sit next to them

"I missed you so much Rachel" Louis says drawing their attention.

"I missed y'all too" I say gently hugging them. And yes even Harry. I sit next to Harry and start eating.

"I take it she is hungry boys" Harry states making everyone laugh

"If I would've known that was Zayn's and his godawful girlfriend I would've switched the case. Thanks for the heads up boys" I say giving them a look

"How were we suppose to know. We all dropped contact with you as well as you did to us so technically still your fault love. We didn't know you were a damn doctor" Liam says making me laugh

"And you look different too, but a good beautiful different" Harry adds smiling at me and I smile back. Soon the hour went quick and I was back to work. I got paged to go to his room, when I walked in I saw the boys gathered around and the she devil gone.

"Don't worry she left" Niall says making me laugh drawing attention to me

" I wasn't worried I promise" I say smiling at the boys

"Rachel I can't believe it's really you" Zayn says staring at me

"Oh so your done being rude to me" I say still smiling

"Your creeping us out" Louis says making me laugh

"I'm sorry and I'm sorry about..." he goes to say

"About your godawful girlfriend, it's ok I'm use to rude people questioning my education" I kindly interrupt and start taking his vitals. Once I was done taking his blood pressure I write it in his chart and say goodbye checking on my other patients. After about an hour I hear code blue making me run to zayn's room. I quickly enter running over to shock his heart. I rub the paddles together.

"What's going on to my baby" I hear the she devil say trying to get closer

"Someone get her out of here and charge it fo 300" I yell and then I shake him.

"Once more" I state and then shocked him again to get a heart beat going. Once I see the heart beat again I breathe.

"Zayn can you hear me" I say softly to him

"Yeah I just remember arguing with Perrie and the next thing I know I'm gone" he says looking into my eyes

"Do you usually black out in stressful situations" I ask

"Sometimes but why was this one different" he asks worriedly

"You had a heart attack and you just didn't know it. It's to much stress on your heart that it couldn't handle it with the accident, your surgery and then arguing with your girlfriend" I state looking at him with soft eyes

"I have a name" she says rudely

"I'm gonna have to ask you to leave. You are putting my patient in danger with you being in here" I say looking at her

"I'm not leaving his side and you can't make me" she says smirking. And the next thing I know security was kicking her out.

"Zayn you have to take it easy" I say looking at him with a stern look

"Yes mum" he says jokingly

"I'm serious, you coded and it could happen again. Your lucky I got her when I did and brought you back" I say looking at him and sighing. I got to walk away but he grabs my hand

"Stay please" he asks and I sit down.

"I can only stay for 5 minutes" I state

"Why did you never keep in touch" he asks
