After the fight, we rounded up the tesseract and Loki, who despite having lost was just as tired as us, so he didn't say much. That and the fact that SHIELD muzzled him. Each of us in regular clothes, at the entrance of Central Park, we handed over the tesseract to Thor. His people would take great care of it. Loki, beginning handcuffed and muzzled rolls his eyes as we hand over the tesseract, Thor making him grab the other end. Then in a flash of blue energy, the two Asgardians are gone. We look at each other, each of us saying our goodbyes. Fury gave us a break - a vacation, almost. Each of us go in different directions, but we all know we will see each other again. The next battle for our lives. Or maybe for one of Tony's wild parties. I stand there watching as Banner climbs in with Tony in his sports car. Steve rides away on his Harley. Nat and Clint climb into a SHIELD car. And they're all gone. I smile to myself as I get into my own car, driving away. Who knows where I'll go. But like the others... I'll be back, when they need me.
And the Avengers will Assemble once more.
