Chapter 28

                                                     "Back on the Road"

 

            “Hurry up,” I called out to Nathan as I finished getting dressed.

            “I’m trying,” he called back from the shower. I just shook my head and slid my shoes on before grabbing our bags to walk out the door.

            When I walked out I saw Justin standing by a car looking down at the ground. I made my way over to our car and put our bags in the back seat. Then I quietly made my way over to where Justin was. He must have been deep in his thoughts because he didn’t notice me approaching him.

            “Hey,” I said when I was right beside him.

            “Hey,” he said after he snatched his gaze up to land on me.

            “What are you doing,” I asked.

            “Just waiting for everyone else to be ready,” he said with a small smile.

            “Oh. Can I ask you a very personal question,” I asked him.

            “Sure,” he said with a shrug.

            “Are you gay,” I asked looking him right in the eyes.

            “How did you know,” he asked quietly as he looked down.

            “I noticed the way you look at a certain someone,” I said with a grin. I couldn’t be happier right now.

            “Seriously,” he exclaimed with wide eyes.

            “Yeah.”

            “How many others know,” he asked looking a little scared.       

            “No one. We couldn’t tell if you were or not. I’m the only one who noticed you looking at K.J.,” I said with a sigh.

            “Do you think K.J. noticed,” he asked.

            “No.”

            “Good,” he said with a sigh. “Nothing is more embarrassing than when a straight guy knows that a gay guy has a crush on him.”

            “You think K.J. is straight,” I asked with a knowing smile.

            “Well yeah,” he said looking confused.

            “He’s gay,” I said as I bumped him.

            “You’re not playing,” he asked looking a little happy.

            “Nope and don’t tell him that I told you but he has a crush on you,” I said.

            “Oh wow,” he said with an excited grin on his face.

“You think you’re gonna make a move,” I asked.

“I don’t know,” he said suddenly frowning.
