Twice

A little warning, I'll be using the word rape during this. There's a line when I begin using that word. If you're triggered at all during this, please skip the chapter. Let's begin:
*****************************************
I can't stand Twice.

Being proper serious, I just can't see what's so good about them, their music is ok at best and they've got alright dancing skills. That's it.

Their songs haven't really evolved at all, mainly just poppy and they haven't really changed their concepts much, still using the cutesy concepts which reels the money in.

I've tired to get into them multiple times, and I was actually stanning them but that was before "Yes or Yes" came out. I've outright refused to listen to that song until recently because of the message in the lyrics. I'm gonna get some of the actual lyrics to show you how fucking disgusting it is.

"Choose only one of the two, yes or yes?" Very much implies that who Twice wants has a choice but they don't have a choice at the same time. It's an illusion to say "you've got a choice" but then the choices being the same thing.

"(You better tell me yes)" Seems even worse because Twice is trying to threaten and coerce them into doing something they clearly doesn't want to do.

"You don't have to waste your time thinking" This further give evidence that twice don't want them to have a clear mind and for them to trust twice so much that they'll just say yes.

There are so many more examples of this in the lyrics, these are just the ones I've picked out.

++++++++++++Trigger warning++++++++++++

There was a debate about whether "Yes or yes" promotes rape and I agree with it completely.

The whole music video is suggestive from the get-go, from the stereotypical place of where a rape takes place; a dark and dangerous environment; to the person not being seen when the car drives away which suggests that they're tied up in the boot or something, another thing that has happened in a similar situation.

The lyrics is another beast which I've already spoke about but I'll say it again: the lyrics are disgusting and don't simply imply something 'risky', they full on say that they won't accept no as an answer which is rape!!!

The fact that Twice does such a serious topic in such a cutesy manner and tries to make the song into a bop, makes the so fucking worse.

I've seen many people try and defend them by saying that it's just a song and that it's supposed to be directly after the "Signal" music video. What a load of bullshit!!! It doesn't matter if it's just a song, it's still a song talking about taking advantage of someone and drugging them.

If a guy group were to do a song about rape or drugging a lassie, they would get into so much shit, worse than what Twice were in. They'd lose fans and wouldn't gain fans, no matter what they'd do. It's double standard.

++++++++++Trigger warning over+++++++++

Anyway, I disagree with the people who say that "Fancy" is the song of the year because it's just the same old bullshit that they and all other groups are coming out with this year. It's just the same old beat drop then them dancing, nothing new.

It's really not that different from any of their other songs, just more popular because it seems 'different' or 'special'.

If I had to pick a song of the year, I'd say "Magnetic Moon" by Tiffany Young.
That song is something unique and it's amazingly different from everything else that came out. Here's the video:

This chapter is too long, jesus.
