Elle and Ace quickly jumped into the taxi that was waiting for them. Ace watched Elle with intrigue as she dialed a number on her phone and brought it to her ear, she glanced across at him and smiled. He watched her as she called up Miss Caufield, the college music teacher and explained that I was struggling with my mental health and needed a day off, which somehow worked.

"Sometimes I question if you are magic" Ace said to Elle when she hung up the phone. She glanced across the taxi at him and giggled quietly.

"If I ever somehow possess some magic powers, I'll let you know" She replied with a smile, Ace nodded and laughed. He was trying his best to focus on anything else apart from the day ahead.

His grandad was his favourite family member, he'd thought this since he was a child. Somehow his grandads death never came up in his thoughts, as if his brain was certain he was immortal. They lost touch as Ace grew older, although when he was a teen they'd still hang out and have days out together. Ace would sometimes pack a bag and stay with his grandad for weeks on end, his dad didn't seem to care that much. In many ways, Aces grandad was his real dad.

Ace stared out the taxi window, biting his lip to avoid crying as he thought about his grandad and the silly little memories of his childhood. Suddenly Elle reached across the taxi and grabbed his hand, he quickly turned his head to her and she smiled sympathetically at him.

"You ready?" Elle asked Ace as the taxi stopped outside the church. Ace continued to hold her hand tightly as he nodded his head. They both exited the taxi and stood silently staring at the church. Ace exhaled loudly before walking up the steps towards the entrance, Elle followed nervously. She was afraid to meet Aces asshole dad, as she knew her facial expressions would give away that she despised him.

They approached the church door, now hearing the commotion inside. Without hesitation Ace opened the door and entered the hallway where many people were standing chatting in groups. Elles eyes widened in surprise at how many people there were.

People began to notice that Ace had arrived and quickly ran over to hug him and tell him that they were sorry for his loss, Elle stood behind him awkwardly with her head lowered. She was waiting for Aces dad to show himself, feeling her anger boiling up just knowing that he was in the same room as her.

"My darling nephew, come here" A woman wearing a long, black glittery dress and red lipstick said as she held her arms out to Ace. She was very glamorous, she looked like she was attending a ball and not a funeral. Ace hugged her tightly as she talked to him like he was a baby. She rummaged through her bag as Ace spoke to her before pulling out a packet of cigarettes. She kissed him on the cheek and walked straight passed Elle to go outside.

Ace glanced back at Elle and rolled his eyes, she began to laugh quietly at the huge lipstick stain on his face. Ace approached her and she gently scrubbed it off as he sighed to himself.

Suddenly a tall man with silver hair and an emotionless face slowly approached Ace and Elle. He stomped his feet while walking in an attempt to let them know he was on his way over to them. His arms were crossed over his chest and he wore a black suit. Ace quickly told Elle to stop fixing his lipstick covered face once he saw his father was approaching them.

Elle stared in fear as she could feel the intensity of resentment and pain from their past in the air.

"Son, nice to see you made it" He said as soon as he'd made his way over, Ace nodded and lowered his head. Aces dad then glared at Elle for a moment, she smiled nervously at him.
