I landed my ship on the desert of a planet, turning off the engine with a sigh after a long trip and several boring and unrewarding jobs. Before getting out of my pilot seat a made a quick sign to the skies above "Please let this be as good a job as it seems." I crossed my fingers and headed down to collect my weaponry.
I stuck a blaster in its holster on my thigh and put a few grenades on in case. Staring at my favourite sniper rifle I weighed the pros and cons of bringing it along.
It would be very useful if the need arose, but it was heavy and bulky, and the blistering heat I could already feel seeping into my ship from the outside did me no favours. The blaster was the essential, so I decided taking it and looked at my favourite weapon of immeasurable value.
I was not certain of its name, but I called it a lasersword. I had never seen anything of its style or caliber in all my years as a bounty hunter. I had stumbled across it during a job, retrieving some artifact from a trove of them.
Amongst the countless trophies and carefully preserved relics I had almost felt it calling out to me. It was a curious thing, just a metal cylinder, but it attracted me to it, so I took it along with me.
It took me hours to figure out how to turn it on and get it to stay on, and it's safe to say I almost completely lost my head and several limbs in the process.
For weeks and months afterwards I trained using it, with no one to teach me and no idea what I should've been doing. But I was so intrigued by it and almost felt connected to it, somehow, so I trained.
I took it with me on missions ever since and now it felt like almost an extension of myself.
Attaching the lasersword to my belt, I grabbed my landspeeder and headed off my ship, with nothing to lead me but the tracking fob I was given for this job.

Approaching my destination, I got off my landpeeder and safely hid it as best I could behind some sand dunes. Crouching low I tried to get a good look at what I was going into. There were several armed guards standing outside, conversing with each other, and no doubt there would be more of them behind the multiple metal doors. Chewing on my lower lip as I tried to think of a plan of action, I sensed someone familiar nearby.
Looking around me I saw him. Mandalorian! A grin split across my face as I registered who else had apparently been given a fob. Me and the Mandalorian had done several jobs together over the years, usually just when the job needed more firepower than one person could bring. I chatted joked and commented and it all bounced right off his armour throughout the years, but when it came down to it, I knew I had his back and he had mine. We were both good at what we did, and made a hell of a great team, and I'd be lying if I said I minded the company. I couldn't work with everyone but Mando was anything but sloppy, and working with him was great. If I didn't know Mando better I would've asked him to be my partner, but he was a lone wolf and I knew that. Before I could make any move to get Mando's attention, I heard a voice from below.
"Subparagraph 16 of the Bondsman Guild protocol waiver compels you to immediately produce said asset." The voice clearly belonged to a droid, and my attention quickly reverted to the scene below me, as the guards quickly stood up and raised their weapons but before they could do any damage the bounty droid managed to shoot them all down. The doors leading into the encampment clamped shut at the sound of fire, and the droid took several steps forward, repeating itself.
I quickly made my way down to the encampment, not wanting to miss any action, and noticed that the Mandalorian hadn't yet noticed me, but was doing the same. The Mandalorian approached the bounty droid before I got to the scene, "IG Unit! stand down." The droid shot him in the shoulder and knocked him into some bins. "I'm in the Guild!" He shouted aggravatedly, holding up his fob tracker for the droid to see.
