Adlanna and the War

The Galactic War was going to the tiny, out-of-the-way planet known as Illeara. Although Illeara was only a short hyperspace jump away from Coruscant, no one really traveled there. Illeara had four beautiful rings surrounding it, five huge freshwater oceans, three large deserts, and four large forests. Small settlements are scattered across the planet, with up to twenty families per settlement. But in the middle of the desert called Aglar there is a lone house. This house is home to the royal family of Illeara.

A girl around the age of eighteen was running through the forest Beleg, dodging branches and jumping over fallen logs. Her long, light blond hair fanned behind her as the hot wind from the desert buffeted the trees. The ground was already getting sandy under her bare feet as she raced towards her home. She ran faster, and before long she burst into the desert. There on the horizon was her house. She stopped. Her family was the ex-royal family of the entire planet. Her father, Tharama Alexander, was partly responsible for the loss of the crown, but she, Adlanna, did not care. Her mother, Arianna Jade, had been terrified of what would become of them, but they had managed to survive for the last seven years in this desert. Tharama had many stories to tell his children, most of them being about Coruscant and the adventures he had had as a young prince. A lot of his stories had included people called 'Jedi'.  Adlanna smiled at her thoughts, then once again started running.

Ten minutes later the door to the small cottage flew open. "Father!" she cried. "The war! It's coming!" She breathed heavily. Her father rose from his seat, and her mother gasped. Her eleven-year-old brother jumped up from the bed, smiling softly.

"Adlanna, who told you this?" Tharama asked sternly.

"NJ, the bounty hunter." The man sighed in frustration and sank back onto his seat.

"You should not spend so much time with him, my daughter. He is dangerous." The young girl bent her head.

"Yes Father," she whispered.

Three days later the War had still not arrived. Arianna kept her daughter busy doing chores around the house, so Adlanna didn't have much time to herself. The young woman was braiding her hair when NJ brought the news of the War's arrival to Father. A knock on their door alerted them to someone's presence. Her head snapped towards the door, and her ice-blue eyes had an alert look in them. NJ opened the door and quietly delivered the news. She paled, Arianna fainted and Tharama sank onto the floor. Adlanna understood what he was going through. This had once been his planet, he would have been able to protect his planet.  But he couldn't. Even Arianna understood. The only person who didn't understand, who couldn't understand, was Jonathan. The younger brother. The prince. The person who had been heir to the throne. Jonathan had never seen a war before, and nothing anyone said could make him see they were bad. He had studied wars, and they fascinated them. "Maybe it was a good thing he wouldn't become king." Adlanna thought tiredly.

She stood from her seat and moved to the kitchen to make dinner. She looked around and saw dinner was already made. It was aes, which was like lamb but in a bread shape. She quickly grabbed some plates and began to go to the table, but she slipped and dropped the plates. Before they could hit the floor, however, she reached out and stopped them. There she was, her hand outstretched, the plates frozen in mid-air. She breathed a sigh of relief.  She knew she was using the Force, as she had learned all about them as a child. She glanced towards the rest of her family, and they fortunately weren't looking. Adlanna knew she was too old to train as a Jedi, so she had taken it upon herself to learn the ways of the Jedi. The only thing she had refused to do was not love. That, in her eyes, was preposterous. Adlanna was determined to become a great Jedi, even if she did not have proper training, but only time would tell the future.

So, I've decided to redo what I've done so far, and I've decided to add a little bit of Sindarin elvish to my story. I have recently discovered the elvish language, so I will be having some elvish words in this story. The words I have used so far are: aes, which means cooked food or meat; Aglar, which glory, brilliance, splendor and Beleg, which means great, mighty. The woman above is almost what Adlanna looks like, except Adlanna has straighter and longer hair. I hope you like this better version of Ani and Me.
