Arriving on Coruscant

Anakin was in his room, Jonathan was upset, and I was flying in space  for the first time in my life. Obi-Wan showed me all around the cockpit, and I managed to figure out some controls.

"Anakin would be better at teaching you how to use them," Obi-Wan explained, "as he's the expert round here." I nodded.

"Anakin's acting strange. Is he normally like this?"

"You have no idea."

I walked over to a control. "What does this do, Captain?"

"It jettisons the escape pods."

"I don't think that would be fun?" I was uncertain.

"If you're flying for the first time, let's not have to use them."

"Ok." I sighed. Then I told Obi-Wan, "I feel like I should be with Jonathan."

"He's not happy?"

"Nope." The ship shuddered.

"We've been hit!" the captain/pilot cried. Anakin rushed out. Finally, he would be useful. He looked positively happy as he took the pilot's seat.

"Strap yourselves in. Amaris, get in the copilot's seat. Let's see what you can do."

"Are you sure this is a good idea?"

"Yep."

"Ok. But I probably won't be useful."

"Doesn't matter. Pull that down," Anakin said, pushing a few buttons himself. I pulled the lever down.

"Five minutes to Coruscant." Anakin grunted.

Anakin glanced at me. "Follow your instincts." Then he grinned. "Let's get you to Coruscant."

Ten minutes later, we landed. Well, we actually crashed, but hey! we're still alive. I looked at Anakin, who looked back at me. Obi-Wan said, "Another happy landing." I laughed, and he stared at me in astonishment. I continued to laugh, and Anakin joined in. After a while of trying to be stern, Obi-Wan finally gave in and laughed with us. The original pilot walked in, and looked at us strangely. We stopped laughing.

"Let's go to the Temple," Obi-Wan said, and the pilot, still confused, nodded.

"I'll get a transport," the pilot said.

"That's not necessary." Anakin glared at him.

"Yes sir." The pilot turned on his heel and walked away.

"Let's go."

Two minutes later we were at the Jedi Temple. "Wow! It's huge!" Jonathan exclaimed. He shook his head. "And you guys live here?!"

"Yep," Anakin said.

Obi-Wan looked at me. "What do you think of it, Amaris?"

"It's amazing!" Obi-Wan smiled.

"Thought you'd like it." Then Obi-Wan turned around. "Master Windu." He bowed. I cocked my head, and turned, along with Anakin and Jonathan. I saw a dark-colored human male wearing brown robes, just like Anakin and Obi-Wan were. (Btw, I don't mean any offence by dark-colored. I just don't really know how to describe him.)

Jonathan immediately went on the defensive, but I said, "Hi."

"Master," Anakin said, bowing. I glanced at the two of them, then did the same.

"Master?" I said hesitantly. Anakin turned to me.

"That's we call all Jedi Masters; and if we're Padawans, we call all Jedi Knights 'Masters.'" I nodded, still unsure.

"This is Amaris?" Master Windu asked Obi-Wan.

"Yes Master," I answered, still unsure if I should say master. He smiled.

"Taught her the basics, I see." He seemed pleased. Then he turned to Anakin. "Take her to her room. We will test the lad later." He faced Obi-Wan. "What is his name?"

"Jonathan."

Before Anakin led me away, I turned to Windu. "I need to know everything that happens to him if he doesn't turn out to be a Jedi. Please?" He nodded. "Thank you." Then I followed Anakin.

"Where will I be staying?" I asked.

"Probably next to my room. I think Master Windu is going to allow you to be Master Obi-Wan's second Padawan. You'll be the first!"

"Really?"

"Yeah!" I looked around to see where we were. We were in a long hallway that led to an elevator.

"Are we allowed to run?"

"Sometimes, if it's an absolute necessity. Why?"

"I kinda want to run. But I won't, I guess," I said, sadly.

I looked at Anakin to see him thinking, hard. Then he smiled, cheekily. "Race you to the end of the hall." Then he set off running. I raced after him, caught up and passed him.

"Ha!" I cried, reaching the end of the hall before Anakin. He caught up and tackled me. He knocked me onto the floor, and I pretended to be hurt. The cheeky smile on his face disappeared, until he saw that I was laughing really hard; then he helped me to my feet. The elevator finally arrived, and we went in, not seeing Master Windu and Master Obi-Wan at the other end of the hall, smiling as they watched us.

We soon reached the floor I would be staying on. I longed for the freedom of the forest, the freedom to run, the open air. It was like Anakin sensed that, cause he told me he would take me out to explore Coruscant later. I smiled, and said, "Thanks."

We walked to the door that led to my room. "This is where you'll be staying." Anakin smiled. "My room is right next to yours." I smirked.

"Right next to yours huh?" I smirked.

"Yep." I walked into my room, but Anakin stayed outside. "I'll let you get settled. If you need anything, you know where to find me."

"Ok. Thank you." I smiled.

"Your welcome." Then he shut the door and left me to explore my room. It was huge! It had a queen bed, with a beautiful cover on it. It also had a small chest-of-drawers too, which surprised me as I had been told Jedi don't have them. But it didn't matter. I explored the rest of my room, which, come to think of it, was more like an apartment. It was fancy in a simple sort of way. I quickly put all the clothes I brought- which wasn't much- into the chest-of-drawers. Then I left my room, taking careful note as to where it was. Then I went to Anakin's room and knocked on the door. He opened it quickly and smiled.

"Can we go out? I want to see Coruscant."

"Sure." Then Master Obi-Wan appeared.

"The counsel wants to see you."

"Now?"

"Yes. Now." I nodded submissively and followed him.

"Do you think I'll make it?"

"Of course you will," Anakin said, and I nodded. We walked to the elevator, and walked in. Today was the day that would determine the rest of my life.
