After all the things that we been through, I got you
Look what you've done, look what you've done
-Look What You've Done, DrakeGina's POV
It's been a week since Naruto, Shikamaru and Hinata left and I already miss them. I miss the village, and everyone in it. The familiar streets, shops, corners even the annoying squirrel that follows me every time I would go to train with Daichi and Tokito. I miss them too.
And Sasuke. It was weird not seeing him come out of his bedroom after having his morning shower and sit next to me on the couch with a cup of coffee. I miss his stories about training and how squad 7 was improving, the stomp he walked around the house with when Naruto had pissed him off that day, the bright smile he wore when Sakura was flirting with him and he had to suppress his smiles all day. He secretly really liked her, but he said that he had a goal and that was more important.
Something about today was off, the air was heavy like the suffocating feeling of loneliness I was so used to. I was really worried that Sasuke had left the village. Of course I was thinking of the worst. No matter what it was, it was awfully wrong.
He wouldn't leave if I wasn't there right? Without saying goodbye...I thought, my bottom lip finding it's way between my teeth automatically. Who am I kidding? He'd leave any time, any day.
"Gina, you alright there?"Kankuro asked from the other side of the couch.
"Yeah. Something feels weird, somethings wrong back home."I said, sipping a glass of water.
"I'm sure everything is alright, no need to worry."He replied in attempt to calm me. It didn't help much, making me more nervous.
A loud, quick knock came from outside. It was too quick and loud to not be an emergency. I sprinted down the stairs, everyone else following closely behind, flinging the door open to reveal a very perturbed Baki sensei.
"You four are needed in the jounin council, immediately."He said, strictly then rushing somewhere else.
I knew it.
I bolted to the jounin council, completely forgetting about the others, more worried about why we had to be there so quickly. I burst threw the door, practically breaking it to see Asuma and Kurenai sensei with expressions that made me uneasy.
"Gina."Kurenai said when I came in.
"What happened."I said more of a statement then a question. I felt knew presences and heard quiet pants behind me.
"Gina, something's happened, something terrible."She explained.
"Sasuke."I said and she looked at me with a blank look."Sasuke left the village didn't he."
Silence.
A deafening silence.
"Where did he go and who's going after him?"
"Shikamaru, Naruto, Kiba, Neji and Choji."Asuma said. I wouldn't be enough. Not for Sasuke to come back. I felt my fists clench as I stood there taking in every horrible moment."And I believe I heard Guy say that Rock Lee was going to go after them as well."
"It's Orochimaru. He had to put that damn curse mark on him."I said more to me then everyone else.
"Lady Tsunade believes that is true, and if it is, Sasuke would need an escort to the Sound. These people would most likely be Orochimaru's henchmen so the retrieval squad will need some help. So, you four will go after them and help them to bring Sasuke back."
I power walked out of the room and back to the house, refusing to further discuss anything. Everyone packed for the mission separately, myself stuffing it into my backpack furiously in anger.
'Everything will be fine. No need to worry'. Yeah right. I saw my nails growing to a sharp point, almost claw like. Calm yourself Gina.
I hurriedly walked down to the front door where everyone was.
"There's a straight path from the Leaf to the Sound. Most likely Sasuke will have gone that way and everyone else probably knew that. If we find one, we'll find a trail of them."I explained as we ran through the hot, sandy desert.
We ran for hours, myself needing a food pill to help me. Finally we reached the tall treed forest. I heard sounds of shuffling from the ground below.
"I'll take this one."Kankuro said, going to help whoever was below.
Temari, Gaara and I continued through the forest, hearing yet another rumble protruding from the lower branches.
"I'll go."Temari offered, leaping down to help out.
Gaara and I continued in silence. I pushed myself as hard as I could until we came to a large clearing just in time to see Lee being attacked by a man with white hair and bones sticking out of his body.
"Who are you?"Our opponent asked, sounding perplexed.
I placed one hand on my hip and flashed the signature Uchiha smirk at him."We're shinobi."
"Of the sand."Gaara continued. He walked in front of Lee to face off against the white haired Sound ninja.
"Gaara, Gina."Lee whispered, gratitude filling his voice.
"Lee, where's Sasuke?"I asked.
"I do not know. Naruto has gone after him."He told me, but staring at Gaara.
It's all up to Naruto now. I can not leave Gaara. Not when a battle is about to erupt.
"Gaara, is that what they call you? And you are Sasuke's twin sister Gina. Yes, I've heard a lot about you."The white haired man said.
Gaara, as usual, said nothing to the man. He turned to Lee then, still lying on the ground."You're different. When you fought against me, you had much more agility and sharpness."
Lee looked surprised and slowly got to his feet, groaning slightly in pain."I figured you would say that. I am not the kind of person who holds a grudge. Even so, because of you I have had a fairly tough time of it."He told Gaara, a smile on his face.
Gaara seemed to contemplate this for a moment."Really?"He began to pour sand into the ground.
"Anyway, why have you come here?"Lee question.
He glanced at Lee out of the corner of his eye."I owe the Leaf."He said, turning to me and holding my gaze."I owe the Leaf a great debt."
I wondered in that moment if I'd ever been more attracted to him than I was right there as he commanded the battlefield, confident in his strength.
The man we were facing looked a wreck. Bones poking out from his body in spikes, as if he'd been stabbed multiple times. His eyes expressed pure hatred and loneliness, much like Sasuke's eyes.
In that moment, Lee stepped forward, taking a fighting stance, blood dripping from his limbs. I saw the pain in Gaara's eyes as he saw the damage he had done to Lee the last time they had come face to face.
"I'll handle this."Gaara stated, glaring at the boned freak.
"No, please! Just back me up!"Lee called, running towards the bone freak. Gaara's sand caught Lee by the ankle and he landed on yet another bed of sand.
"I've got sand in my mouth!"He complained."Will you please let go of me?!"But he winced in clear pain at that moment, clutching his left arm, giving the game away. I went and sat by him and took a look at his arm.
"You're not doing anything in your present state."Gaara told him.
"Let us take care of this."I wasn't going to get in Gaara's way, but if that man even got close to hurting him, best believe I'll be there.
He ignored me."I've got this."
"Gaara, do not let your guard down. He uses his bones to attack!"Lee yelled to Gaara as he paced forward to oppose the man."He can launch them like you saw before and forces them to protrude from his body! He is able to control them all at will!"
"You're Gaara of the Desert. You wield sand, hence the name."The man stated matter- of- factly.
The sand poured from Gaara's gourd like a stream. He glared at the man whose bones were slowly being sucked back into his body.
The man started to push the bones from his fingers and Gaara spotted immediately, flinging sand out toward him.
"Digital Shrapnel!"The man yelled and shot bones from his fingertips.
Sure enough, the sand came straight to Gaara's defense and the guy was left dodging sand, having to pull off some pretty impressive taijutsu to do so.
"Gaara of the Desert? Rather a foolish nickname, isn't it?"He stated as Gaara's attacks ceased a little."You're nothing without that sand of yours!"
Gaara worked up his attacks once again."Sand shower."He growled, just as the man looked up, only for his feet to be captured by Gaara's sand from underground.
"But as long as I have it, I can do anything. The only fool here is you. If I need more sand, I can easily use the earth we're standing on to make more."Gaara explained, as his sand wrapped around the man.
This justu, I can't copy it so it's a kekkei genkai...Lady Sensei, didn't she? What was the name? Kaguya? And there was one survior, a little boy named Kimimaro?
He used his signature sand burial. I was sure he'd been killed but only moments later, he resurfaced forcing his way out of the sand, parts of his bones visible beneath his skin, a whole set of teeth visible on one side of his face and black marks covering his body. The sight was truly disgusting.
He's got the curse mark also.
Gaara made a very impressive sand tsunami and giant sand burial, taking down trees and covering the opening and more.
He's so hot. I thought as I watched him do the justu.
Then a freaky, monster- like form of Kimimaro came sprinting out of the sand.
He grunted and began trying to catch Kimimaro with his sand. I felt it come over me, my mind only focusing on Gaara, how to save him. Kimimaro was getting very close to Gaara, and in that moment I found myself in front of him again, palms facing Kimimaro, a crystal barrier in front of us. The impact pushed against it, sending Gaara into the air, his sand cushioning his fall.
"Is that the best you can do with your ultimate defense? Is that all? I'm very disappointed."Kimimaro snarled in Gaara's direction, as he got to his feet.
"He is not your only opponent!"Lee shouted, moving in from behind to attack Kimimaro"I am here as well!"He launched an attack only to be sent flying as well.
"I'm tired of that sand. Very well, Gaara. You first. And then maybe I'll take your girlfriend. It'll make my Lord very happy to have both Uchiha twins."He said, smirking.
Suddenly, Kimimaro began to pull his spine from his body. I felt unpleasant chills run down my spine at the sight and thought of being with Orochimaru.
He threw his spine towards Gaara, wrapping it around his sand that came to his defense began to force a huge spear- like bone from his arm, stating that it would bore right through Gaara. Gaara merely glared before creating a huge life like sand version of Shukaku.
"Ultimate Defense: Shukaku's Shield!"
Kimimaro began attempting to bore through the shield only to find it crumbling away. He then stated that he would be one with Orochimaru and live on in his soul.
Gaara did not let this madness ensue for much longer."Orochimaru's brainwashed you well, you sad little pawn."He began to create a whirlpool of sand with Bone Freak in the center."I will bury you two hundred meters below the surface of the earth, under pressure so great you won't be able to move a finger, imprisoned there until the end of time."Kimimaro started to seep into the ground just as Gaara had stated.
I ran to his side, on instinct grazing my fingers over his pale skin, checking for bruises or cuts. I was glad that I found none and that internally he was fine.
Then...
"Dance. Bracken Dance."
Swords of bone began to pierce from the depths of the earth violently. As I looked down, I saw one come directly in between my feet and I did not have time to move.
