Bright sunlight was beaming through the cracked window shades. Emma groaned and squinted her eyes as she adjusted her hazy vision. She tentatively touched the back of her head as she acknowledged the throbbing ache. Slowly her senses came back to her when she saw her blood coated fingers. Before she could think more of it the door started to jingle. Heavy locks were turned and the door was squeaked open.

"Get away from me." Emma said.

Curling herself further away from the door on the bed. The mysterious tattooed man made her feel uneasy, so she scooted farther away as he got closer. Who the hell was he? More importantly where the hell was she?

He raised his hands to demonstrate that he came in peace. Slowly approaching her to appear less frightening.

"I'm not gonna hurt you princess. I'm just here to check your wound." He said.

"Don't come near me." Emma yelled.

"Look. We can do this the hard was or the easy way. I could care less about you, you're not even my type. I'm just here to make sure you don't get an infection." He said.

He nonchalantly shut down her fears of being assaulted. The nonverbal promise did ease her and he was able to get close enough to inspect her wound.

"All done princess." He said as he finished patching up the gash in her head.

"My name is not princess." Emma said.

"Well how am I suppose to know. Until I do I think I'll keep calling you princess. I think it suits you." He looked down to her expensive clothes that were now tattered.

He stood up to walk away, but a soft whisper stopped him in his tracks.

"Emma. My name is Emma." She said.

He turned his head," Ethan, but everyone around here just calls me E." He said.

Ethan wasn't sure what compelled him to tell her his name. He didn't owe her anything. However, he couldn't ignore those trusting baby blue eyes that screamed how terrified she was.

"When will I be able to go home?" Emma asked.

He looked at her and his eyes displayed an ounce of empathy before it quickly vanished under a cold and guarded gaze.

"Never." He said before he promptly shut the door and proceeded to lock her in.

...................

"We can't keep her here." Grayson said.

"You think I don't know that?" Ethan said sarcastically.

"We could get rid of her..." Bryant said. Silently gesturing death as an outcome.

Ethan slapped Bryant's head," We all made a pact. No harming women or children."

"Well we can't let her go. She's a witness." Grayson said.

"We'll figure it out. For now I don't want anyone entering her room that isn't me. She might be a prisoner, but no one is allowed to lay a hand on her." Ethan said.

"You act like you don't trust us." Bryant joked.

"I don't." Ethan said.

He exited the room, leaving everyone wondering what the hell just happened.

............

Emma had been held hostage for two months now. The sun being the only indicator that time was passing by. She was bored out of her mind and craved to take a shower. Her hair was greasy and her skin was starting to look dirty. It's not like they're neglecting her on purpose. If anything they're all terrified to come into her room for anything besides giving her food. Ethan was gone, and she had no clue when he'd be back.
