I stopped by the side of the road and dialed Nichole's number, desperate to confirm if she had changed her mind about picking up Harry.

After calling her twice, Nichole finally answered. "H-hello Nic, finally! I thought you weren't gonna pick up," I said, relieved.

"Sorry, I was busy doing something. The phone was on silent," she replied.

"Did you pick Harry up from the daycare?" I asked, my voice trembling.

"No... Didn't I tell you I wouldn't be around today? I have a lot of work to do at the office," Nichole explained.

"P-please tell me you're joking, Nic," I pleaded, my heart sinking.

"What's wrong? Why is your voice shaking?" Nichole asked, concern in her tone.

I couldn't hold the phone properly as my hands shook, and it slipped from my grasp, falling to the floor. Nichole's voice continued to come through the phone, but I couldn't focus on what she was saying. The call eventually ended, and instead of calling her back, I tried to think of who could have possibly picked up my son from the daycare.

Kylie's phone started ringing again, and she glanced at it, thinking it was Nic calling to ask what was wrong. But this time, it wasn't Nic. It was an unknown number. Something told her to pick it up, so she mustered the courage and answered, her voice trembling.

"He-hello?" she stammered.

"Hello sweetie," a voice on the other end replied.

"W-who am I talking to?" Kylie asked, fear creeping into her voice.

"It's me" the voice responded.

She trembled in fear, she heard Ryan calling her name, his voice echoing behind her. Fear consumed her, and she ran even faster. Taking a right turn down a narrow street, she desperately searched for a place to hide, her phone still ringing from the unknown number.

"I can't let him know about Harry. He's going to take him away from me. He has no right over my son," Kylie thought, determination fueling her escape. She turned back to check if Ryan had lost her, her heart pounding in her chest.

He was still running toward me, his eyes filled with anger. I gasped and bit my lips, knowing what was coming next. I needed to run faster, desperately searching for my son. My heart raced as I dialed the phone, gathering all my courage to answer the call.

"Hello?" I managed to say, my voice trembling.

"If you end this call again, I'm gonna make sure you never see your son again," the voice threatened, sending chills down my spine.

"M-my son? Who are you? And what is my son doing with you?" She asked, panic rising within me.

"KYLIE... WATCH OUT!!!" Ryan shouted, his warning barely reaching my ears.

But before I could comprehend what was happening, a car struck me, and darkness enveloped my consciousness.

Ryan POV
As I continued running towards her, my eyes filled with anger. Seeing the fear in her eyes, I couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt. I knew what was coming next, and I needed to catch up to her, desperately searching for our son.

Her phone kept ringing, and I could see the hesitation in her eyes. She made a decision, picking up the call with a trembling voice.

"Hello?" she answered, her voice filled with fear and uncertainty.

"If you end this call again, I'm gonna make sure you never see your son again," the voice on the other end threatened.

"M-my son? Who are you? And what is my son doing with you?" she asked, panic rising within her.

"KYLIE... WATCH OUT!!!" I shouted, my heart pounding in my chest.

But before she could react, a car struck her, and everything went dark."

Ryan sat alone in the chair, his gaze fixed on Kylie. Time seemed to stand still as he had been in that room for the past two days, refusing to leave her side.

Every scar and bruise on her body held a story, and Ryan's eyes carefully examined each one, trying to decipher which were from the accident and which were a result of his own actions.

It dawned on Ryan that even Kylie's doctor couldn't distinguish between the marks, or perhaps they simply didn't care enough to. Conflicting emotions swirled within him. He knew he deserved to be held accountable for his actions, to face the consequences and rot in a jail cell if it meant bringing Kylie some semblance of joy.

But deep down, he also knew that Kylie was not the type to be cruel or vengeful. She possessed a kindness that ran through her veins, and the thought of her willingly having him imprisoned weighed heavily on his soul.

Ryan had made a decision. He was prepared to dedicate his entire existence to Kylie, to lay the world at her feet every single day until his last breath. He would do whatever it took to make amends, to prove his love and devotion, and to become the person she deserved.

With determination burning in his eyes, Ryan vowed to be there for Kylie, to support her, and to help her heal from the pain he had caused. He knew it wouldn't be easy, but he was ready to embark on this journey of redemption, hoping that one day he could truly make things right and bring happiness back into Kylie's life.

He couldn't help but smile as he reached out to caress her face, a glimmer of hope shining in his eyes. However, his touch was abruptly withdrawn when the sound of the door opening behind him caught his attention. This was supposed to be their private moment, away from prying eyes, but as Ryan turned around, his heart sank.

Standing in the doorway was not a nurse, but Mark, a close friend, and a blond lady whom he had never seen before. Confusion washed over him as he tried to make sense of their unexpected presence. Who was this mysterious woman, and what was she doing here?

Ryan's mind raced with questions, but he quickly composed himself, putting on a brave face for Kylie's sake. Deep down, he couldn't shake off a sense of unease, wondering what Mark and this unfamiliar woman were doing in Kylie's hospital room. He knew he had to stay calm and find out the truth, for Kylie's well-being and for his own peace of mind.

With a determined expression, Ryan approached Mark and the blond woman, his voice steady but filled with curiosity. "Hey, Mark. Who's this?" he asked, gesturing towards the woman beside him.

As he awaited their response, Ryan's mind raced with possibilities, hoping that their presence held some explanation or perhaps even a glimmer of hope for the future.
