The first time Naib Subedar saw [Y/N] [L/N], what went through his head was unusual. [Y/N] reminded him of something he found, back when he still fought in wars. It was weird. Naib didn't know why he thinks like that nor what exactly [Y/N] reminded him of.
But, when he was in the same dark waiting room as [Y/N], Naib finally realized.
"Ah, she's a wildflower on the battlefield."
[Y/N] was like a flower in the wrong place. She's not suited for this hell. Just like the wildflower Naib could find on the battlefield from time to time, she just suddenly appeared somewhere she shouldn't be in. No one knew where or how she came.
"Are you nervous, [Y/N]?" Emily Dyer the Doctor asked softly to the female beside her. The four of them had been waiting for a Hunter to match with them for almost half a minute. And during that thirty seconds, [Y/N] couldn't stop drumming her fingers on the table.
"Ah, no, no, I'm fine!" [Y/N] answered hastily. Her haste proved that she was definitely not fine.
"Don't be too hard on yourself. It's okay to make mistakes, this is your first match after all." Servais Le Roy the Magician waved his hand to get [Y/N]'s attention. "We, veterans, are here to help you, Miss [L/N]."
[Y/N] giggled, embarrassed and a little confused about what she should say next. "Thank you very much-Whoa!" She was caught off guard when a Hunter suddenly matched with them.
"You'll be fine, dear," Emily chuckled as she patted [Y/N]'s shoulder, "You've memorized the rules, right?"
"Oh, uh, yes." [Y/N] nodded. It was half a lie though for she could only remember half of the game's rules. But, she could learn by doing and watching the others, right?
The fourth member of the team finally spoke up. "Just... let us know your location when you're in trouble," Naib Subedar the Mercenary said, his eyes focused on the table in front of him.
"Ah, thank you!" [Y/N] replied with a huge smile as she finished getting ready, "I wish us all good luck."
·
"...Heh, yeah, what 'good luck' I have." [Y/N] murmured to herself sarcastically while running as fast as her legs could take her.
Wu Chang's footsteps came closer and closer behind her back. [Y/N] wasn't familiar with the map at all and boy, the Lakeside Village is huge. [Y/N] could hear the Black Guard laughed behind her. Oh, he's definitely making fun of her! He must have targeted her first because he knew she's a new Survivor and he's having a really good time making her panic.
[Y/N] kited the Hunter only for about fifteen seconds. She didn't even get to struggle much before she was thrown on a rocket chair. The Black Guard flashed her a satisfied grin before walking away to hunt the other Survivors.
"Sorry..." [Y/N] told the others with a long sigh. Her spirits instantly went back when she saw a man crouching behind a pallet, waiting for Wu Chang to leave. It was Naib Subedar, he had followed Wu Chang quietly when the Black Guard had [Y/N] tied to his balloons.
Naib waited until Wu Chang was out of his sight. He stood up and ran towards [Y/N]'s chair. As soon as Naib finished untying her, [Y/N] quickly stood up and followed Naib to a nearby cipher machine. But, it didn't go that smooth.
Wu Chang noticed that [Y/N] was out of her chair and came to incapacitate her again. When Naib noticed the Hunter's umbrella flying towards them, he moved behind [Y/N] to body block for her. [Y/N] was lucky Naib moved fast for the White Guard hit Naib's back as soon as he came out of the umbrella.
"Follow me!" Naib called out as he took a turn while Wu Chang was still cooling down. [Y/N] gladly followed him. God bless Naib, he knew [Y/N] didn't know where to go.
