CHAPTER NINE (The funeral for a friend)

Jake was upset, he didn't eat, he didn't sleep, he did nothing. Liya was worried about his well-being, Joque's death was ruining him.

"Liya" he whispered

"Yes?" she answered,

"Look at this." So, she did, and she dropped the note,

"What?" he questioned,

"I know this person," Liya told Jake to take Theodore when he and Jake were gone Liya screamed

"I hate you Gerald, Fuck I hate you! I'll hunt you down and I'll kill you! I know you're not dead!" Liya feels to her knees crying, Jake rushed in seeing her break down.

"Liya! Are you ok?" Liya wouldn't talk

"Liya!" Jake talked

"What!" Liya finally answered,

"It's him, isn't it?" She nodded

"Yes, it was him, and I will kill him!"

"Liya you can't, it's illegal! He's going to me to get to you. Don't let him," Jake's voice calmed.

Liya said, "I'll kill him if he harms ANY of you." Liya finished as Jake smiled,

"you have my permission," Liya stood up hugging the crying child

"It'll be ok." There was a knock on the door Jake made a small quiet sign and grabbed a small gun he had for years he went to open the door when he noticed it was only his dad

"I'm sorry Jake, For Joque-" he saw the gun

"You, have it out? That bad?" Jake nodded

"He's after my family." Hennery sat down with them all,

"I'll have a secret service watch over you, they'll look normal, but they will have protective gear in case of anything." It's been days after the shooting, Liya was afraid to leave Theodore alone and she was afraid to leave herself. Ex-boyfriend, Gerald Melinski, Gerald was abusive and would always beat Liya to look cool, about two years ago before she killed Gerald she had bruises all over her, her clothing was stained with blood and Liya had one plan, wait for him to come and place a bullet in his face, she had evil thoughts for him, ones that would involve killing Gerald. Everyone got ready for the funeral that was happening in about an hour Liya and Jake thought that taking Theodore wasn't a good idea for him because of his young age. But she didn't like leaving his alone either. Liya and Jake called a baby sitter for Theodore so they could go, the doorbell rang throughout the house Liya opened the door to see her new babysitter Bertha Walkins she seemed old and cheery. Liya invited her in for some coffee to the sweet old lady with the smell of sugar.

"So, bedtime is anytime you think is good, we believe six," the lady took notes of everything that she was told,

"We'll be back in about an hour?" the lady nodded

"I hope you'll be fine when we get back?" Liya nodded rubbing Jake back in comfort. Liya and Jake left for the church.

"I'm sorry for your loss," people said Jake was upset, then he had an idea. Jake raised his glass "To my friend, to my brother! We'll miss you Joque!" he sipped his drink as he sat down Liya got up.

"I may be new to this family, and I may have not known you forever, but I'll miss you! I bet we all will." Liya sat down with Jake. Jake smiled with cheer, Liya smiled back she was glad Jake was feeling better. Liya and Jake danced to the music

"I think Joque would love to have you join our family," Jake mumbled

"I think he would too, he seemed wonderful!" Jake's smile turned full.
