Jake's phone rang, so he answered
"Micane?" he said with a small pause
"What?" Jake sounded worried
"You aren't joking?" Jake walked to his coat
"I'll be home right away," Jake called Liya telling her everything
"What!" she grabbed her coat as fast as she could and ran out the door
"Damn it, Gerald!" Liya ran to her house to find the window broken and the lady dead. She stood there are shock and sadness. Liya grabbed Jake's hidden gun and looked-for clues
"I'll kill him," she thought as she heard crying a few blocks away and a gunshot Liya felt sick, the thought of Theodore dead, then there it was again, more crying, Liya hopped out the window landing on a small edge she climbed down, finding Gerald.
"Hello, sweet face!" He said holding Theodore in his one arm and a gun in another Liya dropped her gun
"Don't hurt him!" Liya cried
"You should've married me, babe! We would've lived happily!" he said,
"Yeah with all the beatings?" Liya yelled Gerald smiled fully
"I thought you were dead!" she told him. Gerald thought she missed him, they had good times.
"How about we start over? No beatings, no more abuse" Liya knew he would never change, he smelled of booze and looked like the man in rags,
"Put down your gun and Theodore down, then we'll talk" so he listened
"That's my girl," she moved closer. Liya smiled as she pulled out a second gun from her coat aiming it at him
"You thought you could pull it off?" Liya questioned Gerald's smile turned into a grin
"Prison taught you well?" Gerald questioned Liya giggled
"Being a mother did." She said dead serious
"I learned not to love idiots like you." She finished as she shot him, more the once. She grabbed Theodore and ran leaving the guns there. When she and Theodore were safe, Jake ran up to them embracing them in a warm hug
"Did you, do it?" Liya smiled and nodded. Police finally arrived at the scene, there was nobody, just blood. Liya was horrified
"How? Where are the guns?" she asked herself, Jake looked at her
"I thought you-" Liya started to cry
"I'm sorry!" he said,
"He almost killed my baby," she sniffled Jake grabbed them and held them for a long while "We'll be fine, I promise" Jake looked up praying for his family's safety. Police took Jake, Liya and Theodore home,
"Thanks, Jack, you're truly a good person." The policemen smiled
"Thanks, Mr. Micane-"
"Call me Jake," Jack left happy and satisfied with his doings
"Will we still do the wedding?" Liya asked,
"How about tomorrow?" Liya jumped
"No not tomorrow, how about the day after?" Liya asked
"Yes!" Jake said, he called all his family and told them to help.
"We'll have a good wedding, my love" Liya closed her eyes
"What's wrong?" Jake questioned "Nothing just, thinking" everyone dressed in their sleep attire and the house when quiet. As the night passed Liya and Jake received death threats through their email and by letter, ones that said,
"Die in a hole.": "I'm coming for you both!" Liya knew she needed something and she knew what. Jake would stay home and watch over Theodore while Liya went to the firing range, she smiled
"Reminds me of me before prison." Jake would've known about what she was doing and managed after countless attempts to get her a gun permit.
