Kim Seokjin could practically taste the discontentment in the air when he walked into the temple. It had been more than a decade since the last time his feet touched the floor of the temple. The last time ended with despair and fear, for both the supreme gods and lower gods. Seokjin could tell just by entering the temple, that the feeling had yet to go away.
Seokjin began to hope that the tenseness of the environment wouldn't lead to the same events that took place over a decade ago would not reoccur. The last thing the gods needed was one of the most sacred events in god history to be ruined again. If it happened again, supreme gods would never return to such an event. It seemed like every time the two different groups of gods got together that something terrible happened. Seokjin was hoping this celestial was a different story.
A part of him knew that it wouldn't be. The lines between gods had already been drawn, and Seokjin had been asked multiple times to alliance himself with an assortment of different gods. All he wanted was peace. As much as people wanted to blame the potential upcoming war on the dark gods, they haven't posed a problem since the last banishment. In fact, Seokjin hasn't even met the newest night god. Whoever the guy was, clearly knew how to stay out of the sight of the supreme gods.
Seokjin knew that he'd probably met the guy during the celebration, whether he happened to see him or talk to him, it didn't matter. Seokjin wanted to evaluate the guy with his own eyes. Seokjin couldn't help it. He loved godly drama. After how long his life has been, it was one of the only interesting things to do. He had heard what some of the other gods said about the guy, and he didn't believe a lot of it, Seokjin had learned to see past all the lies. The other gods spoke a lot of lies. Some mentioned things that happened with the previous night god. Others said things that were too bizarre to be real, things that would have gotten a god banished. If the other gods truly saw the guy as a risk, they would have had a gathering about it a long time ago.
Seokjin smiled at everyone he encountered, pleasantly surprised to see some of the gods, some who he hasn't seen in years, others in decades. Seokjin had a few gods who he wanted to see as well, aside from the night god.
Seokjin had noticed the mishap the night before. The moon took way to long to appear in the night sky. It was the next morning now, and Seokjin was curious to see if the same event would reoccur. Last time Seokjin checked, the times hadn't changed yet, so there was no reason for the god of night to delay sundown.
He personally wanted to know the reasoning behind it, being the curious god he was. Seokjin was almost sure that the reason was something non-interesting, but he was still wanted to know.
But the longer Seokjin roamed the main hallway and the halls surrounding it, the more he seemed to realize that the god of night wasn't going to make any appearances any time soon. It was beyond baffling to Seokjin at the lack of any appearance from the god. Most gods lived for attention, especially the romance ones, but Seokjin knew that some preferred being alone and out of the spotlight. The last night god hadn't been the secluded kind, which was why his betrayal was a much bigger blow.
Even Seokjin had installed some faith into the guy, only for him to turn around and betray them all. Seokjin promised himself that day that he'd never trust another dark god, not after what happened before. He had lied that day too, as time went on, he forgave, but he'd never forget, the small amount of lingering fear and betrayal would always remain in Seokjin's heart.
"Good morning," Seokjin said to an old friend of his, a fellow Jin. Kim Jinhwan smiled back, giving a small wave. It was fitting, considering Jinhwan's unfortunate height. The guy was only five-five, which made him a fairy, without better words to describe him. It was a shame that Seokjin wasn't able to see his friend more often, as both Jinhwan and himself had extremely busy lives. Jinhwan might not be a supreme god, but that did not make his life any less important or busy. Jinhwan was the god of weather, which made his life pretty hectic. "Weather going to be good for the celestial?" Seokjin couldn't help but ask.
Jinhwan paused and looked up for a second. When he looked back at Seokjin's face, there was a bright smile. "Unless the plans have changed, the weather could be clear for the celestial," Jinhwan bowed slightly, before walking away, probably to check if he was correct or not. I hoped that he was as well, wanting nice weather for the celestial. The last thing you could ever want was a rainy celebration.
After Jinhwan walked away, Seokjin didn't know what to do, standing in the room awkwardly. He couldn't help but remember the days when people would just walk up to him a chat casually. Now, they came up to him for favors, or they didn't come up to him at all.
That single moment of silence was enough for Seokjin to notice a small god hidden behind one of the corners in the room. The boy was glancing at the room filled with gods, with eyes that were curious, but wary. Those eyes bounced from one person to the next, watching everyone with attentive eyes. Seokjin didn't recognize the boy from anywhere, meaning he was a new god from within the last twenty years, and if Seokjin was as good as a guesser as he thought he was, then this was the night god. It was just a guess, but the boy's silver hair stood out.
Deciding that he wanted to talk to the guy regardless of who he was, Seokjin began to make his way over to that side of the room. Before he could make it five steps, though, people began to come up and talk to him. It made Seokjin confused and aggravated. The moment he wanted someone to talk to him, no one would, but when he was a man on a mission, suddenly, everyone and their mother wanted a word. When the conversation finally ended, his eyes darted back over to the corner the boy had been hiding, a disappointed sigh leaving him when he saw the corner was abanded, the boy nowhere to be found.
Seokjin couldn't help but be disappointed, as he had wanted to converse with the guy. Guess Seokjin would have to wait until the next time he saw the guy to talk to him.
"I am not your friend!" A loud voice screamed out, and the entire room went silent. Everyone's eyes turned towards the loud voice, but Seokjin didn't have to look to see who the voice belonged too. The voice was the same annoying voice that Seokjin heard daily, Jeon Jungkook.
The person who stood in front of Jungkook holding an arm up wasn't surprising to Seokjin either, the only thing that made it weird was how long it had been since Seokjin had seen the boy. Kim Taehyung was once Jungkook's best friend, but it has been decades since he'd seen the two of them together.
It appeared the first case of drama at the celestial was going to be between the god of strength and the god of lies.
