Taehyung found himself skipping down the halls, waiting for the moment that all the gods would gather for the final and most important event of the celestial, the moment that the immortal world would touch the mortal realm. It was the day the gods were at their strongest, the peak of their powers. Taehyung could already feel the increasing power running through his veins, and with it, the overbearing urge to lie threatened to take over with each breath.
If Taehyung were a new god, he would have fallen under his powers temptation, but after years of dealing with the same urges, he had grown somewhat numb towards the urges his power brought. Sometimes, it was easy to ignore, especially if something was on his mind. At the moment, his saving grace was his new friend Yoongi. Although Taehyung was more than curious about the weird jar inside Yoongi's room, Taehyung knew that bringing it up again would destroy the fragile developing bonds of friendship between them.
Besides, they were gods. Unless one of them did something to get banished, they'd virtually have forever to talk about whatever was in that jar. Maybe when that day comes, if it ever comes, Yoongi would be the one to bring it up that he wouldn't crack under the pressure of Taehyung's potential future pestering. Taehyung had high hopes that one day soon, the two of them would become close friends and share those kinds of things.
Taehyung hasn't had someone even remotely close to a real friend since Jungkook.
After pacing up and down the same hallway multiple times to pass the time, Taehyung's excitement only grew. It had been quite a while since the last celestial took place in Honraoi, due to the unfortunate events of the last, widely celebrated celestial, because of the dark gods.
Unlike some of the other gods, Taehyung couldn't remember much of what took place that night. He knew many of the other gods were close to Na Jaemin, but something about him never felt right to Taehyung, who had smartly avoided contact with the god when possible. Everything Taehyung avoided him for justified itself that day.
It wasn't mentioned by many, but a handful of gods lost their lives that day. Although gods were virtually immortal, a handful of weapons and abilities had the capability to end a god's life. Somehow, Na Jaemin managed to get his hands on one of those weapons. Most of the gods tried to just move on, shaken up by their fellow gods' death. A new hatred and fear filled the gods, and as a group, a majority of them turned their backs on the dark gods, many of which were peaceful and wrongfully shunned. It wasn't until Na Jaemin that the dark gods were considered dangerous and a problem.
Taehyung didn't like thinking about those kinds of things. It only made him further dislike his fellow gods, whom he had poor relations with already. It concerned Taehyung that he could hardly remember that day. Although twenty-years have gone by, a mere flash to an immortal being, the day was different. It left a last impact on the promised land that continued to affect the lives of the gods. So why did Taehyung remember so little? Did the other gods remember that day well? It wasn't a commonly talked about event, mentioned only in whispers, but surely they remember the details . . . right? Taehyung wasn't sure now that he thought about, but he didn't have anyone to ask.
Could he ask Yoongi? There was a chance that Yoongi wasn't alive, but there was an even bigger chance that he was. It also made Taehyung realize that he had no idea what kind of god Yoongi was. The question never really came up between the two. Yoongi didn't know what type of god Taehyung was, and Taehyung didn't know what god Yoongi was.
Would it matter? Taehyung didn't think so, but a lot of things could change that. Would Yoongi care that he was the god of lies? Would that be a deal-breaker? It was the reason a lot of gods avoided him, that, and what happened with Jungkook. It wasn't surprising that the other gods sided with Jungkook; he was a supreme god, after all. Taehyung was just . . . an untrustworthy god. At least, that's how the other gods saw him.
