Melissa's POV
It was 9:30am when I heard my phone ringing. I pulled my phone from the nightstand to look at it. Who the hell is calling me so early?! I asked myself in anger. Sighing, I sat up in bed and swiped to answer the phone. "Hello?" I asked in a groggy voice. "Hey baby, it's me." The thick masculine voice spoke on the other end.
Quickly sitting up in the bed, I paused waiting for my brain to process who I think I just heard over the phone. "Mel, baby you there" that familiar voice rang into my ear. "James" I asked completely unconvinced that it was truly him. He chuckled, "It's me baby" he said. Tears instantly burned my eyes and slowly leaked down my cheeks. Words were unable to depart from my mouth as I was so shocked to hear him after all these weeks. I guess he could hear my sniffles on the line, "Its ok, I miss you so much" he said. His voice felt like home, it was so comforting to finally hear him. "I miss you" I managed to mutter underneath my sobbing.
"I love you so much baby. How is Kylan" he asked. I went on to talk about how Kylan was doing and how he was growing every day. There was a tinge of sadness in his voice while we talked about our son. I knew how much he truly missed him. James loved that boy more than life itself. "How are you" I asked. He sighed. "I'm doing good. At first, I wasn't really feeling it. But Dr. Watson is really great at what she does. I really feel like I'm getting better" he said. A huge grin broke out onto my face. It felt so good to know that he was doing better. I knew he could do it. James loved us and I knew he would do anything to make things right between us.
As our conversation continued, I told James all about what was going on in the club. He was truly impressed by all the changes that have been made. In a month's time, I was able to increase our club revenue and more people were lining up to come to the club. People were noticing the changes and were telling others about them. Word was getting around that Truth was under new management, and it didn't hurt that I was a young and attractive woman running an exclusive nightclub.
"I knew you could do it baby. I am so damn proud of you" he said with such vigor in his voice. That reassurance and confidence boost reminded me how much I loved and adored this man. He always made me feel like I was the best thing that ever happened to him.
"Listen, now that my 30 days is up I want you and Kylan to come and visit me" he said. "Just let me know when. I'll be there" I assured him. "I can't wait. I love you with everything in me Melissa. Don't forget that" he confessed. "I love you more baby. I am so proud of you for making this effort for our family. We love and miss you so much" I said. "I'll talk to you soon" he said. "Ok, bye. I love you" I said. "I love you too" he said then hung up.
That talk had me refreshed and rejuvenated for the day. Happiness replaced my sadness in that instant. I was ready to take on the day. Dre let me know he had some ideas to get more people to come to the club. Kylan's cries resonated through the penthouse. Throwing my legs over the edge of my California king sized bed, I walked into the bathroom quickly washing my face and brushing my teeth before walking into his nursery.
