10 February 2014

The sudden timer from Jessie's phone wakes me up from my winding thoughts as I look at her to see she's already staring at me. "Let's go," I whispered. We all huddled behind each other as we slowly walked to my bathroom.

"Okay, let's all go in, no looking at the tests," Monica tells us sternly. We nod and I open the door as everyone follows behind me. I see the tests are on the sink countertop all lined up and I look at Jessie who hesitantly walks to it. She looks at us and sighs as we give her a nod of encouragement. "You look at it first, we're here for you," Darren whispered sweetly to her and gave her a kiss on the cheek, then, a peck on her lips.

She picked up the first one on the right while looking at us. Finally, she looks down at the test in her hands. We all tried to read her expression as she suddenly widened her eyes and began to cry.

"Negative."

I widened my eyes and smile as I hugged her. "Look at the rest!" I told her. She looks at all of them and announces they're all negative. Darren hugs her and gives her a long, and passionate kiss on the lips as Monica and I hug each other.

"We knew you'd be okay no matter what." Monica said. I nodded and pulled her into a hug. She wrapped the tests in toilet paper and threw them in the garbage to conceal them. Then, she opens the cabinets and pulls out the disinfecting wipes.

"What are you doing?" Monica questions her confusingly. Jessie pulls out a wipe and furrows her eyebrows at Monica. "I'm cleaning the damn counter, what do you think?" She told her, wiping down the counter. I laughed and step out from the bathroom.

"Always a germaphobe." I said.

After our little moment, we decide all to just hang out and watch a movie while my parents came back home which was at around eight in the evening. "I'll see you guys tomorrow then!" I waved at them as Monica jumped into her car and Jessie in Darren's car. I closed the door and met my parents on the couch.

"So, how'd it go?" I asked, sitting next to my mom and cuddling her. She pulled me into her and played with my hair. "It was great, actually, turns out your father just needed an ass whipping." She laughed while I furrowed my eyebrows and brushed it off. I didn't want any explanations of what that meant.

"Yeah, and your mother just need free food," he shrugged as my mom gasped playfully and swat at his arm. They both laughed and looked at me. "How are you, though? Have you eaten?" My mom asked. "I haven't had dinner, but I had a few snacks." I told her, pulling away from her to pull the hair tie from my hair as my ponytail was practically giving me a headache.

"Okay, then, I'll make your favorite." She declared. I widened my eyes. "Fettuccine Alfredo with chicken?" I gasped. "The one and only," she said, getting up from her seat and walks into the kitchen. "Thank you, mom!" I yelled as I looked at my dad.

"Hey, have you talked to Isaac?" I asked him. Issac was my older bother, Jonathan was the second eldest, making me the second queen of the house, the first one being my mom. Youngest was okay, too, but queen definitely sounded better.

"Nope, l haven't talked to him since last Thursday." He said. This was normal for us. Although my brother loved us all very much, he didn't call much, but I understood why. He was a very busy man. I never really grew up with him like Jonathan and I did, he knows my brother better than anyone else, but not as greatly as my mom. There was a ten year difference between us so it felt like I didn't really know him at times. I never had a deep conversation with him when he lived with us because, well, I was a kid, and what the hell was a seven year old going to talk about with a seventeen year old boy?
