14 March 2014

It's finally Friday. A knock disturbed me from finishing up my homework. I frowned and got up from my seat at the dinner table and quickly glanced at the time above the stove. 5:34. With a sigh, I unlock the door, my eyes meeting an unexpected person.

"What are you doing here Zayn?" I asked him, inquisitive. He offered me a gentle smile, beautiful hazel eyes roaming my face. "I did say that we should meet up like we did last time, didn't I?" He said. I furrowed my eyebrows and let out a breath, looking back at the dinner table where my homework sat. "C'mon! It's a Friday, I'm sure you've got nothing planned." A smirk adorned his face as I rolled my eyes, but faintly smiled.

I turned around and grabbed my phone from the coffee table and turned off the lights in the kitchen and living room. I then quickly grabbed my keys from the small table next to the front door. "That's the spirit!" He cheered. I scoffed and grinned anyway while I locked the door. I quickly sent a text to my mother, telling her I'd be out for a few minutes or so; she said it was alright and that she'd be home soon.

"So, how have you been?" I asked Zayn. The sun shined on both of us, while we walked down the streets. "I've been...okay, I guess." He said with a shrug. I nodded. "And you?" He quickly inquired. "I've been okay as well."

"Did you ever hear from your friend?"

I looked down at my fidgeting fingers with a pout and frown etched on my face. I let out a sigh before I spoke. "No, I have not actually. I'm hoping she's fine though, and when I hear from her, I'm telling you right now, she will not hear the end of it."

He laughed. "I'm sure she is fine. Maybe a family emergency? Whatever it is, she's okay. If she wasn't, she would've probably already called by now, eh?" He nudged me with his elbow as I silently nodded.

"Anyway, have you gotten any acceptance letters from colleges?" He changed the subject and I was glad.

"No, I should be getting them this month or the next, that's if I even get in."

"Oh, don't say that. I'm sure you'll get into all of them, you get good grades right?"

"Yeah, I've failed couple of times but I've quickly raised them up." I replied.

"What school are you hoping to get into?" He kicked a pebble. The school I yearned to get into ever since I was a child had to be Columbia University. The beautiful campus always showed itself in my dreams. It'd be incredible if I got in.

"Columbia University, it's my dream school." I merely shrugged. "You're lying! Me too!" He slightly yelled while I widened my eyes in surprise. "Are you serious? What do you want to major in?"

"English!" He excitedly exclaimed.

"Stop messing with me!" I told him. I shook my head and giggled. He only chuckled and stared at me with a stupid grin on his face. "Do you want to become a writer or...?" I asked him. I was surprised to be hearing this information. Zayn was one to always leave things for later and absolutely hated to write when were kids, guess that changed now. He had changed. I hadn't really talked to him since middle school.
