I woke up to whispers and giggles, my body laying on somebody else's. I frowned, trying to distinguish the room I was in after opening my eyes, and rubbing the sleep out of them. Jessie and Monica sat on the other couch next to me as they shook their head and laughed at me. I shifted on the couch, trying to sit up when a small whine ignited from someone beneath me. I widened my eyes, looking up. Harry sat with his head on the back of the couch, his arm over my body that laid on his.
I gasped, startled, quickly removing myself from him. He jerked up and woke up too, eyebrows
furrowed before he looked down at me. He rubbed his left eye with his pointer finger and grinned sleepily at me. I scowled at him and shook my head."Have a good sleep, Val?" Monica mused, a smile etched on her face. I glared at her. "No, actually, my back is killing me." I groaned quietly. "Good morning, Valera." A soft, sultry voice said. Monica's mother laid awake with a small smile on her face as she watched me. My jaw fell a bit, but I quickly smiled at her and stood up to stand at the side of her bed. Her brown eyes were joyful, even in the state she was in. Her skin wasn't as pale as last night, and I was so happy about that.
"Hi, Mary, how are you feeling?" I could feel a presence behind me, I knew it was him, his scent told me so. He smelt of fresh linen along with the faint smell of his cologne still on him even after a long night.
"I am feeling well, to be honest." Mary chuckled. I smiled, and grabbed her hand, rubbing my thumb on the back of it, careful not to touch the needle that was pierced into her skin. She looked behind me with a welcoming smile. "And you are?" I let go of her hand and moved to the side so she could talk to Harry.
He cleared his throat and stepped forward, a small smile on his face, easing her into him just in case she felt uncomfortable with him. She didn't know him after all.
"My name is Harry, it's very nice to meet you." He shook her hand.
"Likewise." Mary grinned, and quickly glanced at me while I stared at him. She smirked, almost in knowing.
"If you'd like, I could leave now, I don't want to be a bother, considering you don't know me and all that."
Mary scoffed, and waved her hand in front of her face. "Nonsense, you're absolutely welcome to stay, although I'd love to know how you got here." She laughed."Oh, Valera needed a ride after Monica told her you were here. I decided on staying just in case they needed anything." Harry said. "That's very kind of you, isn't it, Monica? Learn from the boy." I looked over at Monica who rolled her eyes with a small smile. "If you only knew, mother." She grinned. I laughed and looked at Harry who feigned being offended.
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"Oh, nothing." Monica shrugged. Jessie only shook her head and stood up to greet Mary as well. While Harry and Jess both talked to Mary, I went to where Monica sat. "Now, how are you feeling?" I asked, placing my hand on her knee. She sighed, "Honestly?" She asked me with a frown.
I nodded. "I still feel like crap." She blew out a raspberry. I quietly chuckled and shook my head. "I think your mom is going to make it, girl. Look at her, she looks so much better than last night." She shrugged at my words, as if she had a hard time believing them.
