Chapter 06: Sufferings on the Lower Land 1

I can't sleep, for the known reason that I will be stuck again in the last place I wanted to be. Christina and Andres are already fallen asleep while Jack and Fido are still awake laughing at Jack's adorable actions. I admit Jack is the cutest baby, he always makes us smile whenever we are sad like when she died and pulled us away from the memory of her dying, Jack flash us a smile and the guilt and sadness vanished suddenly from our faces even though the emotions still linger to our mind. But then if there's happiness there is sorrow behind waiting to enter my life. The world is created with a balance of good and evil. And if there is a light there's darkness after.

This is the last dream all about and now happening again but this time it's different.

I wake up surrounded by sand and the heat of the sun. I didn't know what to do, for every step I take I just keep going back to the start, until I saw her a woman covered in sand standing in front of me. Her smile is not genuine but I felt a deathly air looming to me when I saw her gorgeous smile. I know I'm dreaming again because how could I transport myself in the desert when I was in the forest sleeping with the others. I didn't make a fuss about how I suddenly fall asleep but I concentrate on the woman who is standing naked in the desert, her brown eyes, gray hair that falls to the sand, and her otherworldly figure body with her unique mocha skin.

She was beautiful.

"thank you for the compliment but I'm will not continue to stall on what's my real reason for appearing in your dream, I just want to warn you about the impending danger that you will face after to left the lower town," she said, her voice was soothing like a lullaby that I almost forgot what she said

"danger what kind of danger?" I asked after I snapped from the charm of her voice.

"a kind of betrayal and death"

"A death? who will betray me?" I'm confused about the confusing implications she said

"Secret," she said putting her index finger to her smiling mouth as if she enjoyed my confusion and scared expression.

"You know I don't if it's a joke or not for you to appear in my dreams trying to warn me just to give a cryptic message that will not help" I snapped, I don't get it every time there's someone who tries to warn you it's just a confusing message that I needed to decipher first and then it's too late for me to do anything.

"Now wake up, you need to continue your journey" she ignored me snapping

"Wait!" I stop her " maybe just a clue please" I begged for a single clue maybe it will be easier if I have one.

"Hmm, I don't know?" She said teasingly, then she held out her hand "but you could exchange something for my help" her teasingly smile turned into a scary smile, now that her true showing her true intention.

I frowned thinking if I could trust this deity but I cannot put my trust blindly knowingly that there's someone that will betray me and this quest is important to me, my future and memory depend on this so do I have a choice or not.

I nodded and the naked deity beamed in happiness like a child.

" a chicken will come and ruin your morning, bringing a fishy smell that will be the cause of your death" she said

"What kind of clue is that"

he ignored me " now for the payment, I will wait for the right time to take it" and I suddenly woke up.

when I opened my eyes, all of them are already woken up packing our things.

...

In two weeks of nonstop walking we already left the heart of the hobgoblin forest, Andres is the one leading us in the right direction to reach the lower town and also the one who is leading us away from the danger of encountering hobgoblins. Now that we are in the safe parts of the forest we decided to rest and eat and continue our journey later. I started a fire for heat because the fall of snow is near and causing a cold evening.

"I heard a sound of water flowing when we are walking down at that part of the forest, we should catch a fish for dinner so at least we could eat something that not leafs" Andres suggested and I agree, we've been eating grass and not enough nutrients can keep our body to walk any further.

So Andres goes back to the part of the forest where he heard that water flow, Christine is entertaining Jack, and Fido was busy reading the book that I didn't know that he had. while they are busy decided to follow Andres.

The reason is not that in because I'm hungry and cannot wait for the fish but because I'm suspicious about him. Yes, I accept their help because the Lion deity Nohan said so but now that I met another deity with a warning I became paranoid to the point I think Andres is the betrayer and Christine might be the one who will cause me to die but for now, I focus my attention on Andres.

The chicken might be an avian kind, that's what I think but I'm not sure if I'm right because I'm still ignorant to this world.

I kept on following the footsteps that Andres leave on the grass using some level 1 spell to light my hand with white light so that I could see the path, this led me to a river that Andres said where he will the fish. He's here.

Maybe he could be trusted after all, he didn't make some excuses just to plan something against us. My intuition may be wrong.

I decided to go back to the camp and wait for him there. On the way, I heard some screaming. I go in the direction of the screams and saw a pack of hobgoblins pulling a tied humans whose the source of those screams. woman, man, teens, and also children, a different variant of humans was in the hands of these nasty creatures. I could see the abuse that these prisoners receive from their captors.

I cringe, remembering our same predicament from these small vile creatures. I snapped back from the unpleasant memory when the hobgoblin pulls up the boy who is crying nonstop.

"Shut up your wailing, it's hurting my ears," he said punching the boy to the face leaving the boy to fall to the ground face covered with blood because of the strong force of that punch. I gasp because I felt the fading lifeforce from the lying boy.

"hey stop killing those goods, we still need to deliver them to the buyers," the other one said

the other captured humans were shocked at what happened. I was also shocked at how that escalated quickly. I wanted to help but I know I'm powerless right now to fight this pack of hobgoblin and I could also endanger my friends if I deiced to play hero right now, knowing my weakness. so I decided to leave that place quietly and go back to the camp where I saw Andres was back and now grilling some fish he caught.

"Yvonne where have you been?" Andres asked and Christine and Fido also looked at where I'm standing.

I didn't replied back because the scene of what happened is still in my mind lingering. I managed to snapped back and nodded to Andres without saying anything.
