I find my knees weak, I only barely manage to hide it. I step down from the stage. The rest of the ceremony is a blur. All I know is that Alston will be a teacher and nobody is taking over the role of king... yet.
I step through the doors with my parents. I walk slowly hardly noticing that I almost run into Dylan.
"Kalen?" My mother says softly.
"Yes mother?"
"What's wrong?"
"I... I don't really know, It's like I don't know who I am," I whisper. My mother suddenly looks at me as if I were a ghost.
"I know who you are! You are daring, you are strong, you are capable of anything you set your mind to... and you are destined for greatness!" She exclaims.
"But... nobody believes in me, I'm the son of the king, so... I'm just a spoiled brat in the eyes of most."
"I believe in you... did you know that my father was a servant? and my mother worked in the ministry? You see, I grew up with two parents with different lives, unlike most... I was pitied, and envied. You are going to be an amazing man, who does amazing things with your life. I know it."
"Mom, you're supposed to say things like that!" she remains silent, shaking her head occasionally. I hop into the hovercar and stay silent the rest of the ride.
We arrive at home, the doors are closed, the curtains drawn, there isn't a light on anywhere, the sun will set within the hour.
"Spooky," my father said under his breath. I step up onto the porch. The doors, as usual are opened for me as soon as I get close enough to walk through them. I take the stairs two at a time. I just wanna get away from it all, to forget everything that happened today. I stop looking at where I'm going and run into my door. I curse under my breath. I find the door difficult to push open, and after about a minute, manage to force it open. In my room sits a man... I know that I recognize him from somewhere. I'm just unsure of where.
"Hello," the man says evenly.
"Uh... hi?" I ask hesitently
"I bet you're wondering who I am."
"You might say that."
"I'm Fluorence Vartine, you may have heard of me."
"Oh, you're my new mentor."
"It seems so." It seems so? what's that supposed to mean? I forget my manners and flop down onto my bed. I know he's staring at me, most likely with displeasure. I stand back up and look at him.
"So, when do we start training Fluorence?"
" Immediately," he says, looking off in the distance.
"So, Laurisa wont be training with us?"
"Oh, yes, she will be. LAURISA!" she steps out of my closet.
"W-w-why is she in my closet? How did she get in here? What!?" I find myself come near to falling over. there's a girl in my closet! How is a person expected to deal with that?
"One, I didn't want to make things awkward. Two, I came through the window. Three, just chill out!" She says simply. I stare at her with my mouth hanging open. I bet I look like an idiot right now. I shut my mouth quickly, biting my tongue. The metallic tang of blood flooding my mouth. I stick out my tongue, scarlet drips from it. "That is disgusting!" she exclaims.
