Frozen in Fear

Alex wasn't aware that, as she spoke with her victim, one of her friends had paused behind the corner to listen."Huh?" Kris raised an eyebrow as she heard what they were talking about, and mostly, Hiba's shaky breath and quiet cry "What the hell are they talking about??" She thought to herself, clueless. "Hmmm... better tell the others!" She shrugged childishly and smiled to herself, hurrying on the wooden floor. Alex froze and turned her head, pausing her dialogue with Hiba for a quick moment "...Someone was listening." She commented,hearing the pitter-patter of her feet; The girl in front of her thought it was her chance to flee, and yet she was scared for whoever was listening. "Alex-" "No." She immediately answered coldly, then relaxed her cheeks into a smile "No..." She repeated "This will be fun.", and without adding anything else, she let go of Hiba's arm and walked up the stone stairs. The girl held and rubbed her own arm, which was even getting numb from Alex's tight grip. When she turned around, she noticed the entrance door was still open; apparently, after reaching her, Alex didn't lock it again. Something in her head told her she had to go and see herself what happened out there, to know who came there and why they did, but mostly, why they were killed. Did Alex had to do with it? Surely. But she wanted to see it before jumping to conclusions.Meanwhile Alex had reached Kris fast enough- she knew the mansion better, so even in the dark, it was easier for her to orientate more than the guest. "Rebecca" She called calmly "Can you help me with something?"."Uuuuuh-..." She paused and hesitated, turning to Alex "Sure!" She answered without thinking twice, almost forgetting what she had just heard and getting distracted by the task. "I was thinking to maybe grab some ice creams to eat during the night, since you all seem... pretty tense. Thing is-" she continued "the freezer cell is a little too small, and I can't even go alone because its metal doors are rather heavy and would close behind me. So could you go and grab some flavors of your choise while I hold the door open for you?" "ICE CREAMS!" Kris said loudly within excitement, making Alex chuckle "My,my... I'll take it as a yes."
Luna sat on her bed, being below Hiba's and looking towards Vin's. "Yo. What's up? Still paranoid?" she laughed. "Agh- it's not that, it's just that," She huffed, trying to explain as she brought her arms behind her head, staring blankly at the wooden surface above her, she kept quiet for a while not finishing her sentence. Then she turned on her side and faced Luna "...How do you explain the keys?". Luna didn't know how to answer at first, but then she made an attempt "Maybe they always were like that? The blood is old, or maybe it wasn't blood?" "It was /fresh/, Luna. Apart from that, the power is still gone! She was doing anything but fixing the generator out there. And honestly, the excuse about Hiba yelping seemed rather fake..." "But isn't it true she gets scared of loud noises?" Luna asked on the last part "Sure, but I don't recall her yelping like that! It sounded like her life was in danger, not like something had simply made her joint up!". Argument after argument, a silence suddenly fell on the two of them. "...Where the hell did Kris go?" Luna asked, noticing the unusual silence.
The rain was still hitting the ground rather violently, and although her feet were bare, Hiba ran out of the mansion and into the woods- She didn't doubt it was a bad idea and even dangerous to run into the woods during a storm such as that, but thinking about it, she prefered that than having to face Alex being so violent again. She ran past the digged dirt, not even wanting to think about the person buried underneath- she figured that it was impossible they arrived there without a car, so she looked for one. Not much further, nearby a small lake, she noticed some wheels peeking out from some bushes. The closer she got, the more she could see that among the leaves was indeed hidden a car. "That's it..." She stated by herself as she ran to it and hurriedly moved the bushes, leaves and branches away to reveal it. As soon as enough of them fell to the ground,Hiba widened her eyes: it was a car, but not a random one... A /police/ car.
"Alex!" Kris called while hitting the metal doors of the cell, sneezing as she held a box of ice creams with her other arm, but she could barely feel it. "W-weren't you supposed to keep the door open?? Alex!!" she kept complaining, her lips shivering and her teeth hitting against each other. Eventually the girl dropped what she was holding, losing sensibility in her limbs "S-s-so cold- A-alex...?" Kris yet again called, now even getting tired as she slid and leant against the metal door, hugging her knees. She brought a hand in front of her face as some more minutes went by, noticing how her fingers were turning purple from the cold, whichwas even more than usual after Alex had lowered the temperature "H-heh... purple... my favorite color..." She said with a silly thought seconds before closing her eyes tiredly and passing out.
"Kris, Kris! Hang in there!" Luna exclaimed as she ran to the freezer cell with Vin. With some teamwork, Luna kept the door opened and Vin went to grab Kris from under her arms and drag her out of the freezer with care."I-is she still alive?" Luna asked worriedly. "I can't tell! A-ah...but she needs warmth, quickly!" "The room I was hidden in was pretty warm, maybe if we lay her near the fire she'll get better?" "Right, help me carry her...lift her by her legs, but be careful." Luna nodded and did so, moving the unconscious girl towards the incinerator room, which luckily was on the same floor. Once they were there, they even went to grab a blanket to fold Kris in it. "This is bad... I'm telling you, Alex is after us. Kris was calling for /her/! She's the only one who could have locked her in there." Vin stated while looking down to Luna and Kris, who were sitting near the fire. "Totally... I believe you now, okay? I'm sorry- I just- Isn't it hard to believe Alex would suddenly go cuckoo and , I don't know... KILL US ALL!" Luna panicked. Vin smiled to herself knowing that finally she was believed, but soon realised there was nothing to smile about "Hiba... She may have met a similiar fate! If we don't hurry, Alex is going to get her!". Luna nodded "Y-you're right... B-but what do we do?" She asked,looking up to her friend worriedly. "...Stay here with Kris. I can- look for something to defend myself with, and find them..." "Vin, it's very dangerous-" "I know, but it's not like we have a choice!".
Luna furrowed her eyebrows and looked away slighty "...Stay safe- and just call if you're in danger." Vin nodded, hesitant but yet confident. "I will..."
