Two months later

Italy

Alli's POV

I sat on the cold tile floor after getting sick into the toilet for the third time this morning.

"Are you okay? You sat in here all night last night and now all morning." Matt stood against the wall at a safe distance from me. "You haven't been yourself for weeks. I think it's time we go get you checked out."

I sat up against the wall and closed my eyes. "I'm not going to the doctor."

"Come on. I really think you should—"

"No! I'm not going!" I stopped him. I was so moody lately too and it sucked.

"O-ok, you don't need to raise your voice at me." He looked a little pissed off and I felt bad. "What if I went to get food?" My anger immediately went away at his words.

"Yeah, I'd like that." I said quietly.

"Alright. I'll be back in about 20 minutes." He kissed me on the forehead and left the room.

After he left, I got up and threw on some decent clothes, grabbed my purse, and snuck out of the hotel we were staying in. I had to figure out why I was feeling the way I was quickly, and there was only one way I knew how—a pregnancy test. I know it sounds crazy, but I have the symptoms and I'm sexually active—well—"was" sexually active. The most action I've gotten this year was my one night stand with Ben. Pathetic.

I wasn't familiar with Italy, but I knew there was a small drug store on the corner right down the street. I practically ran there, got a test, and ran back to the hotel.

When I got up to the room, I opened the test and buried the box in the bottom of the trash can so Matt wouldn't see it.

I sat on the toilet and put my head in my hands. I was so confident in doing this but I didn't want to do this to Matt—possibly have a child inside of me that might not be his.

After I finished, I put the cap back on the test and laid it upside down on the counter.

I sat in bed and stared at the wall. My brain was ping-ponging around in my head while I tried to retrace the last few months. There was no way I could be pregnant—but it all adds up.

And yeah, the last person I had unprotected sex with was Ben. Basically, I'm screwed.

Ten minutes had passed and I made my way back to the bathroom. I stood at the counter with my hand on top of the test for a while. I just couldn't look at it.

I'm not pregnant, I'm not pregnant...

I closed my eyes and picked it up.

I'm not pregnant, I'm not pregnant...

I opened my eyes.

I'm...I'm pregnant.

I felt my heart sink.

"No, no, no..." I whispered to myself.

I looked back at the test to see if I was imagining things, but there were two very obvious pink lines across the screen.

Tears formed in my eyes. I fell to the ground and it felt like my entire world went with me, too.

I know damn well that it's not Matt's child—it's Ben's. Ben and I aren't even on good terms, so how is this going to blow over?

I sobbed on the bathroom floor until I heard the door unlock. I sprang to my feet and wiped my eyes.

"Hey babe, I got us pizza." Matt was in the doorway. I couldn't even look at him.

"Have you been crying? What's wrong?" He came up to me and stroked my cheek.

I grabbed his arm and pushed it away. "I need to tell you something."

"Ok...what is it?"

I pulled the test out from behind my back and placed it in his hands.

"Y-you're pregnant?" He looked so happy and surprised.

"Yeah, but there's more to it."

He didn't say anything.

"The baby...it's-it's not yours." I stared at the ground.

His smile faded quickly. "How...how could you? Who's is it?"

I swallowed deeply. "It's Ben's." I said quietly.

"Ben? Are you fucking joking? You're kidding me, right?" He yelled at me.

"I-I'm not joking." Tears built up again.

"I don't believe you. This is some kind of prank, isn't it? If it is, it not fucking funny!" He grabbed me by the shoulders and shook me while he spoke.

I freed myself from his grip and walked into the bedroom. I began packing my things.

"Where do you think you're going?" He asked angrily.

"I'm leaving. I'm not welcome here anymore anyways." I threw my clothes into my suitcase.

"You're not going anywhere until you tell me what happened between you and dipshit!" He took hold of my arm and squeezed it.

"Don't you dare call him that! He's my best friend!" I waved my finger in his face.

"Tell me right now or you're gonna stay with me and I'll make sure that baby never sees it's real daddy."

I knew he wasn't kidding. He would hold me hostage and not let me leave. He would do horrible things to me.

"Alright, we were drunk and we were just caught up in the moment! That's it, that's all you need to know!" I said hysterically.

I zipped up my suitcase and grabbed my things from the bathroom.

"Now I'm going to be with people who actually care for me. We're done." I slipped my rings off my finger and set them on the dresser.

"Goodbye." I turned to leave, but I was cut short by the crack of a hard object hitting the back of my head. The last thing I saw was the door--I was so close.

I blacked out and fell to the floor.
