Waking up today, I felt nothing but excitement. Today was the day I would be assigned a team. Today marked me being one step closer to becoming the next Hokage! Jumping out from my bed, I rushed into the bathroom to get cleaned up. I quickly rushed through my morning routine, and headed out the door, towards the academy.
I sat in a different seat, my usual one being occupied by a certain Aburame.
"What are you doing here Kagurama? I thought today was only for people who passed the exams?" The annoying voice of the one and only Shikamaru Nara called out from beside me. I gave the male an unamused expression and pointed to the leaf village headband tied around my lower stomach over my white sash.
"See this Shikamaru? Obviously I had passed the exam. For you not to observe this means you're getting slower." I scoffed and crossed my arms while leaning back in my chair.
"What a drag. I was just asking a question." Shikamaru grumbled out. I shrugged my shoulders, not really caring. Our conversations were usually always like this. He says something, I say something back, somewhere in between there's a rude remark, and then we're chilling. It's not like we hated each other or anything. We just weren't buddies. Only two people who could somewhat tolerate each other to an extent.
"Oh hey Kagurama!" Choji, who sat on the other side of Shikamaru called. Now Choji on the other hand was a little different. He was too nice in my opinion. Just like Shikamaru we weren't exactly buddies. Choji was the type to follow the spiky haired boy. He was friends with people Shikamaru was friends with. Therefore not me.
"Hello Choji. I assume you're excited for the team placement?" I asked in a nicer tone than when I spoke with Shikamaru. I also had a faint smile, something that was rare for me. Choji beamed was he nodded his head towards Shikamaru.
"Yeah! My dad said I was likely to be in the same team as Shikamaru, which is a plus!" He exclaimed and went back to munching on the chips he recently opened. I could feel eyes on me, and looked to see the narrowed of or Shikamaru.
"Do you need something?" I questioned while raising my white eyebrow. In other words the left one.
"You know, Ino's dad can help you if you have a personality disorder." Silence. It felt like everything stopped for a moment as Shikamaru's smirk slowly turned into a smug smile, and whatever control I had over my rising temper shattered, and I lunged forward, grabbing the irksome Nara in a headlock.
"What was that you insufferable brat?!" I growled as I attempted to choke the life out of the Nara. I take back my thoughts. I did dislike this kid.
"Let-me-go stupid!" Shikamaru gasped as he was grabbing at my arms. We both stopped at the loud commotion coming from behind us and looked to see the one and only Naruto Namikaze, son of the Fourth Hokage, smacking lips with Sasuke Uchiha, the son of the head of the Uchiha clan.
