It's hard being female
It's actually hard to be a male too
But being
Female
Is shamed
Being a young woman in a world where growing up I was told
"Cover up, only sluts and girls asking for it where those tight jeans and low cut shirts"
gave me something
to be furious for
Growing up I was told to go put on a sweater to cover up my chest if I hadn't worn a bra
Being a female
Is enraging
Being begged and shut into a car because he needed it
I ask myself if it was God who made women subordinate
If it was privileged whites I learned about in history class
If it was man who had thrived without the touch of women
Being a female
Hurts
Being made to feel guilty
even without committing a crime
Born to be guilty
Born to be used
Born to not speak
Born to listen, but not heard
Being a female
Kills me
Because it is I who still has to explain to other men why
Because it is 50 women who have to come forward after being raped
Because it is man:
A sick and twisted inclination by birth.
