There were voices all around, but what they were saying was almost impossible to understand. The only thing my mind could process was the fact that I could not see anything. When I lifted my hands up to my face I felt a sting of pain at my elbow. When I grabbed where the pain was I realized that there was an I.V. in my arm, and I snatched it out. Once it was out I sat up and whatever kept me from seeing while I was lying down, fell away. I could now see the painted brick walls of a hospital bedroom, and sheets that were stained red from blood on the cart by the door.

That was when I remembered the car accident, and how I ran off the road by a inanimate object. Oh God! Where was Thorn? He was nowhere in the room. I turned the monitors off and slid out of the bed. From all of the commotion I heard earlier this place sure was empty. As I walked I could feel the air go through the back of my hospital gown. I felt pricks at the bottom of my feet, but when I looked there was no blood just glass. The glass looked as if it had been blown in from the window. There were no lights on, as far as I could see. As a matter of fact, as far as I could see, this place was totally abandoned except for me. Something was wrong here and I had to figure out what. I walked to the next room, down the hall and noticed that everything that had been used on the patients was tossed in the corner of the room. It was almost like everyone dropped what they were doing and left. From the smell of the place there were probably decomposed bodies and organs in the room too. I closed the door and started to walk to the next room, but before I could open the door and peek inside I heard music playing down the hall. No matter how far I went in the direction of the music it never got louder, but instead the melody got darker with every step I took. Once I made it to the end of the hall, the music stopped completely. That was when a figure appeared in front of me. My mother stood before me, her face sad and gloomy. She reached out to touch my face and began to speak.

"Dear child, the things that you now see is our current future because you have not awakened. Without you, all of humanity will be wiped out and the grounds will forever be barren. You are our only hope." She paused for a few seconds and then continued, "You, my daughter, and your brother are the last Ancients left, and so you are the only ones that can save us. You must always remember though, that even though you have the power, your brother is your protector. Without Daniel, you will not succeed. Now child, let your eyes flutter open and return our hope to us." My mother leaned in and kissed my forehead, and then everything went black.
