When I opened my eyes I saw Thorn walking out the door and I could not help myself but call after him. I was glad to see that he was okay, but the way that he was looking at me made me nervous.

"What? ..... What's wrong?" I had to ask.

"Ummmmm sis look down at the monitor that is still on your finger and then look at the screen." I did as he said while he continued to speak. "Malaya, you have no pulse. The doctor shocked you at least six times and not once did they get a pulse, plus this is the first time you opened your eyes in fourteen hours." it took a few seconds for Thorn's words to soak in.

"Well, that would explain the nurses on the floor," I stated matter of factly.

"You act as if it is completely normal. What the hell?"

"The damage is already done, so there is no need to fret over it and besides we have some weirder things going on at the moment. Now let's get out of here before they wake up. Oh, and take the chart saying I am dead."

Thorn just kind of looked at me like I was stupid.

"As if I am going to leave that kind of information behind. As soon as someone finds it they would track me down and use me as a lab rat."

"Oh okay, but you can't just disappear out of the hospital. Then they will start asking questions." I was so happy at the way he was handling the situation, that I could not help but smile, and besides, I had a plan.

"Okay then slip my morgue sheet into your pocket and then I'll bring the chart the receptionist. This way I will be able to sign out and be accountable for."

"I don't think so I will bring the chart and sign you out."

"Fine." covering my tracks was easy. the hard part was avoiding the

staff while wearing a hospital gown.

I glanced around while I waited for Thorn to finish checking me out. The room was filled with gloomy faces. Some of them paced and others sat idly in their chairs; waiting to be called on. When Thorn returned I saw him shake his head and say,

"The nurse said that your clothing was covered in blood and glass and the only thing salvageable was your bra." He paused for a second and then went on. "Oh and Gran left her car.......... I think I may have some sweats and a t-shirt in there. You wanna wait here so I can check?"

"Uh, yeah sure. I'll just be hiding in the bathroom." As he walked away I locked myself in the little girl's room and sat on the floor. It was a little weird thinking of yourself as dead when you did not feel any different than before. I let my thoughts reel me in while waiting on Thorn, but it was not until I heard the pounding on the door that I realized just how lost I was. I climbed off the floor and clumsily opened the door. As soon as the door was open Thorn handed me a dirty pair of sweats and a hoodie.

"It was all I could find, sorry." He said shrugging apologetically.

"Thanks. It'll do." I quickly took the clothes and shut the door. I then ripped the gown from my body and slid into the oversized clothes. Once I was dressed we jetted out the door and into Gran's Mustang.
