15. The mall

As we are in the car, I feel that there's something up with Shawn that he doesn't want to tell me about. "Hey babe, why do you look so worried, is there something?" I ask him while putting a hand on his shoulder. He looks at me with a small grin on his face "no don't worry but...he starts, would you like to meet my family soon?"

Im surprised by him asking me this and I start questioning myself. What if they don't like me? What if I'm not good enough? What if I don't say the right thing? What if I do something wrong? Will Shawn still love me if they don't like me? I really don't know what I should answer. I mean, I want to be a part of his family. Maybe his parents could be the parents I can't have toady.

"Hey y/n, you didn't say anything for a few minutes, what's up?" Shawn slowly asks as I realize I didn't say anything to answer his question. He doesn't have a smile anymore. He seems worried about what I'm about to say. I put myself together and answer his question. " oh yes Shawn, well, I would love to meet them and your sister. But I'm afraid they don't like me" I answer, deciding to tell him the whole truth.

"Oh darling you don't have to worry about it, they are so cool and lovely you won't even have to open your mouth and they will live your little baby face" he laugh, pinching my cheek because he knows that this makes me laugh. He starts the car and get out of the hospital parking lot. I think a lot about it before saying to him:" Okay Shawn I'll meet them and I'm happy you asked me that.  I love you" he smiles and look at me for a second before staring at the road. He puts a hand on my thigh." I love you too babe". The rest of the ride back home is silent. When we finally get home, we both head to Shawn's room and change up for the night. It's dark outside and we decide to order Chinese food. The order arrives and we head to his living room, to watch Harry Potter, again. The movie is long for the late hour so we both fall asleep in each other's arms.

The next morning, I wake up in Shawn's arms. He's still sleeping so I start to have deep thoughts. It's crazy how things goes fast.

My sister was with me most of the time, before meeting Shawn, I started to lost faith in my sister's sickness, I literally cried all nights before sleeping because i was terrified of thinking Hanna could leave my life.  I couldn't survive losing my little sister, she looks so strong to me but lately, before Shawn, she looked so weak, her eyes lost that sparkle. But then I had that idea of contacting Shawn, I  couldn't expect him becoming so close to me and Hanna. I remember that look he gave me when he entered Hanna's hospital room, it was so deep. Like having the feeling I knew him since forever. Hanna started smiling through her pain, she was meeting her idol, who became her brother-in-law quickly, and she's so happy about it. Hanna can't have friends in her room. She can only see me and my visitors. She can't take the risk to be in contact with any bacteria.

Shawn groans in his sleep, pulling me closer to him, like if he felt I was thinking of bad stuff. Like if he wanted to tell me everything is alright by his side. I snuggle into his arms and press my head on his chest. I love hearing his heartbeat. I like telling myself that every time is heart beats, it's a heartbeat filled with love for me and Hanna. Two lost souls who found their kind human, Shawn. I quickly fall asleep with the sound of his heart and his arms wrapped around me.

I wake up again with something tickling my cheek. I open an eye, and the other one. Shawn's face is above my face, his finger is slightly touching my cheek. I look at him straight into his eyes. Two hazel rounds starting at me with so much love and attention in them. "It's time to wake up honey, it's almost 1pm, we can go shopping before having dinner with my family." He gently whispers because I just woke up.  I remember that I have to meet his parents and his sister tonight, I saw pictures and they looked kind and all. But I don't know if they'll like me or not. I'm taking the risk. I'm ready and I want to meet my new family!

I get up and head to the shower with my clothes.

After a quick shower, I dress up with a black dress who's simple but cute. It's open in the back in a large V and the front is a small v-neck but not inappropriate. I straightened my hair to make it look fancy and but a bit of makeup, just to make it look cute but not too much.

As I walk to the living room, Shawn is sitting on the couch, watching hockey on tv. He turns his head when he sees me and stand up. His mouth is making a huge O and his eyes are wide open. I'm shy of what he will tell me but he finally talk. "Is that gorgeous girl who's standing here in my house beautiful as hell my girlfriend? Heck yes!" That makes me chuckle and he walks closer to me "you don't look too bad neither, Mendes" I laugh and he pulls me closer to him by my waist.  He wears a dark red long sleeves buttoned shirt and some black skinny jean. His hair looks so fluffy and his face looks so skinny. He also looks fancy just like me.

His eyes are bright and lovely. He leans into and his lips touches mine, slightly but then he passionately presses them and open them to let his tongue in. It gives me butterflies in my stomach. Every time he touches me it does this. He leans back and presses his forehead on mine "seeing you in that dress gives me bad ideas..." he says when a quick dark light passes through his eyes. "Oh and what kind of ideas do you have?" I ask with a smirk on my face. "You'll see tonight after the diner babe" he simply says while biting his lips. And that's enough to fill my stomach with not just the butterflies but the whole damn zoo.  He takes my hand to guide me to the door and we get into our car to go shopping. I need a few new clothes for me and some stuff for Hanna.

I realize it's actually the first time I go out with Shawn. Except the date, our houses and the hospital visits, we haven't been anywhere together. He drives with a and on my thigh and we listen few songs till we get to the mall. I'm starting to know some of his songs well but my favourite one will always be Fallin' all in you, because the first time I heard it was when he sang it to me at our first date. It was so magic.

He stops the car and we get out in the mall's parking lot. He puts on sunglasses and grab my hand, intertwining our hands. I smile and we walk inside a clothing store.

"I want a surprise for Hanna, I was thinking of a new scarf for her bald head. What do you think?" I ask. While looking in the scarf aisle. "Yeah babe she would love..." he starts but gets interrupted. "OMG IT'S SHAWN MENDES!!" A girl about my age starts screaming. And she asks for a picture. Shawn takes one but he takes my hand and present me to the fan. She hugs me and tell me I'm cute. Woah, I forgot about Shawn being so famous. I guess I'll get used to it but I like that he didn't hesitate introducing me as his girlfriend. During the rest of our shopping he helps me and tells me which clothes I should get and everything goes well. Shawn takes a few pictures with fans and one even asks me to take one with them. I kinda like that whole famous thing. It distracts me from Hanna who I worry about.

We get in the car again and start driving. As we drive to his parent's house, I'm a bit nervous. I hope they'll like me or that I won't say something wrong. And I hope they will count me in as a part of the family cause except Hanna, I haven't have any family since my childhood. I'm sure they will be amazing. We're finally here and Shawn gets put and open the door of his black Jeep for me. I grab his hand and we walk through his doorway. He knocks at the door and the door quickly opens on....
