HONOR AND GLORY

A leader has to prove that they won't end up like their ancestor, a blood-thirsty and cruel tyrant. Their clan feels hesitant to even let them inherit the position. Was this a good idea?

A weary clan and leader that has yet to shed their bloody history have to battle the outside threats together, lest they perish together.

The broken clan gathered around the still body. The mouth was agape and filled with half-chewed berries and meat. Poisoned.

❝Make your pleas.
Your paws are just as bloody as hers.❞

A small group huddled closer to the body, their eyes cold and fur ragged.

❝The leader's word is law; we were simply honoring her by following her word — isn't that what you always preached? Honor.❞

Dawn settled over the camp. The blood on the ground glistened in the rising light.

❝What you did was not honor. That was bloodshed — murder. You have no honor, not anymore. ❞

❝I told you we should
have gotten rid of the kit.❞

❝He probably murdered Emberstar!

Redstar tuned out the murmurs. He wouldn't end up like his mother — he would be better.

❝I've put obstacles into your path. ❞

Visions of his mother's life flashed by in his dreams.

❝Redstar, my son, bring honor back to our name. Bring Dayclan back to its former glory.❞

Redstar awoke with a start, whispers of his mothers voice still in his ears.

[1/1] 𝐋eader: head of the clan. blessed with five lives, and if needed visions from the lives of past leaders to guide them.

❀ [0/1] 𝐃eputy: second in command. when the leader is absent, they step forward as head of the clan. may be former elites, mentors, brawlers, or hunters. less frequently are deputies visited by their deceased predecessors in their dreams.

❀ [0/2] 𝐌edicine 𝐂ats: healers of the clan. medicine cats often have visions regarding the future of the clan.

[0/2] 𝐌edicine 𝐂ats' 𝐀pprentices: young cats in training to become a medicine cat. a cat either chooses to pursue this path themselves or are picked by (one of) the medicine cats.

❀ [0/4] 𝐁rawler 𝐄lites: the top fighters of the clan. each elite leads their own hand-picked squad and reports in to the leader or deputy on how they do.

[ 0/∞ ] 𝐁rawlers: the fighters of the clan. brawlers are generally pretty large/stocky, but there are exceptions. the main thing is that a brawler excels in combat and do their talking on the battlefield.

❀ [0/4] 𝐇unter 𝐄lites: the top hunters of the clan. each hunter leads their chosen squad that they hunt with.

[ 0/∞ ] 𝐇unters: the hunters of the clan. hunters do exactly what the title entails — hunt — they're agile and hold a sharp bite to finish off prey quickly. hunters tend to be more lean when compared to brawlers, but they can hold their own in a fight.

[0/4] 𝐌entors: mentors are not assigned to a squad. instead their focus lies on training the upcoming apprentices into becoming either a brawler or a hunter, depending on which they excel at. each mentor takes on multiple apprentices and teaches them in group sessions.

[ 0/∞ ] 𝐀pprentices: once a kit reaches 7 moons, they become an apprentice: a cat in training to become a hunter, brawler, or even a mentor.

[ 0/∞ ] 𝐂aretakers: from kitting she-cats to the disabled — this role isn't limited to pregnant she's. these cats watch over the kits (mainly) and will check in on cats who cannot care for themselves (elders). they seem to have a keen knowledge on what role a kit will fit into.

[ 0/∞ ] 𝐄lders: the seniors of the clan. these cats have served their time and served it well.
